Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I understand about the Hue token. You said:
I was responding to that, because under the current architecture we will have no local control of Hues. So whatever we’re going to see run locally, it shouldn’t affect Hue management one way or the other.
For clarity’s sake: now… HUE is doable, switches and other lamps not so much. I mention local for the latter as I would assume the scheduling and execution time restraints would not be present locally. This means you can schedule up a bunch of flashes, or have waits in a repeat loop… but I don’t honestly know. I would assume appEngine is fully multi-threaded, and something like this won’t bring it to its knees
It’s also possible for other zigbee bulbs that are directly integrated. You can send a command to trigger the bulb to start identifying (all of them that I’ve seen do so by blinking). This is most likely what the HUE API is doing.
How do we get a push notification when the alarm system changes status (from arm to stay to disarm) in SHM?
I can’t for the life of me find the option to change the alarm system status (to arm, stay or disarm) via the routines. I don’t have the “Set Alarm System Mode To:” option in any of my routines, nor new routines that I’m trying to create.
This could be related to the fact that it seems like my SHM app is broken. I can’t “Uninstall” any portion of the SHM area (Smoke, Security, Leaks) w/o getting a Red Banner at the top “An Unexpected Error has Occurred”.
Anybody know how to completely remove SHM and start over as I think I have a half baked installation/configuration of it.
I built an alert app for the aeons, it’s connected to every light where the teenager hides…
Works like a charm, and better then having to hump my lazy a$$ upstairs or text her…
I think I’ll install another instance and connect it to every aeon dimmer and switch (26 of them) in the house, just to see what that looks like…
This may have been asked previously, but I only started playing with the Smart Home Monitor. Is there a way to have it auto enable based on mode (similar to Smart Alarm by @geko)?
I may have done it in a convoluted way but I used an old Smartthings smart app ( I can’t find it anymore) that flashed your lights a set number of times if motion, contact, switch or presence was tripped. That tied to a mono switch, the new SHM, and a Hue color app and Voila I have a Red Alert for intruders.
There are fundamental, basic generic levels of situations/alerts - in our world:
Information (you may ignore or mute)
Warning (you need to hear this, but probably not take action)
Urgent (you NEED to see this)
There should be in our Connected World too…
We’ve discussed this here more than a few times for it to be in the design now.
Our industry keeps trying to keep it simple for the mass market and it always becomes more difficult for anyone really using it in the end. Time to change the Minimal Viable Product approach - or the focus users.
Any word on the contacts option starting to show up for people? I’ve setup a whole new smartthings account just for my v2 hub, and still don’t see it as an option on drop down. I really want to setup custom alerting to certain people for smart home monitor
I had to keep the sirens out of the SHM as it always triggers intrusion alerts as ‘I am back’ fails pretty frequently even though my mobile presence is detected far ahead of me reaching home. Mode changes are big issues in the platform and several tickets have been opened. Seriously hope it is a top priority for them.
I’m actually seeing actions set for one mode, triggering in others. Right now the app is showing home mode, but actions set only for ‘sleeping’ are firing.
