Second Ikea 30W Tradfri Driver - Zigbee Device Not Pairing

Hi Guys,

I purchased my first Tradfri Driver a few days ago and successfully got it to pair and assigned as a generic Zigbee dimmer. I then purchased 2 more 30W Tradfri Drivers and have been trying to pair either one of them for about 4hrs now with no luck.

I’ve followed all the pairing procedures and voodo reset button tricks listed in many topics in the community with no success. I’ve had the driver sitting on top of the Smartthings V2 Hub and it didn’t seem to make any difference.

I do get zbjoin events in my events list like this:

To triple check my hub was still pairing properly with Zigbee devices I successfully connected an Ikea Puck type dimmer and it is working perfectly with the custom device handler from this community.

I am starting to wonder if ST is only letting me pair 1 Tradfri dimmer?

It may be useful to report these error messages shown in the event list not long after the zbjoin event:

Check your devices list for device ID “CACC”. If it’s there, you have a pairing issue, if it’s not you have a zigbee ghost. The device probably started the join process and then failed, and/or it was taking too long and you’ve done a device reset during the process. I’ve done that before.

If it’s a ghost device (the device ID is not in your list) ST support can clean that up for you, or you can fix it yourself. You do that by manually creating a new device (use the same device type), giving it the device id of CACC and the Zigbee ID of “90FD9FFFFE6B888C”, and then saving it. All that is in the IDE. Then go to the app and add a new device. It should show up, so add it to a Room if prompted. BTW, I prefer the Classic app in cases like this.

Once added, delete it via the mobile app. For safe measures, reboot the hub. The DNI of 0000 is the hub BTW, and every time I’ve seen that it’s because of an improper zigbee join (or at least that’s been my experience). After cleaning up the ghost device, removing the one you created, and then a reboot of the hub, those messages should go away. That’s the process I’ve always used.

Once that’s all done, reset the device and try adding the device again and keep an eye on those hub event logs. Keep us posted.

Are you using a custom device handler? If so, try republishing it.

Thanks for the help, I’ll give this a go however each time I get a zbjoin event it gives me a new network device ID. It’s never the same CACC

The ZigBee id remains the same though.

I’m not using a custom handler as the device didn’t even show up as a thing yet.

I couldn’t find any information about what error code 70 is?

Ok, that’s good to know. Keep an eye on your hub event logs though. Getting a new dni is what’s suppose to happen, but in your case CACC may still be in ST’s mesh.

I’m not sure what that is either. Sorry!

Tried again this morning and getting the same result. Error 70 appears to have stopped but error 00 still showing after the zbjoin event.

Still not getting a thing showing in smartthings.

Pretty frustrating.

Still trying to get these drivers to pair. It’s so frustrating when one of them is pairing perfectly and works so nice while the other 2 refuse to pair.

What other zigbee devices do you have? Any chance you’re running into the 32 direct connection limit?

I only have 5 devices showing Zigbee ID currently in the device list in the IDE

I believe the Tradfri drivers act as repeaters so theoretically they shouldn’t add to my device count as per that FAQ. Good to know though, thanks.

I have 3 zigbee door sensors, 1 Ikea driver, 1 Ikea dimmer and that’s all my zigbee devices so far. I paired the Ikea dimmer after attempting for hours to pair the 2 drivers in question and it paired after only a couple of attempts.

Maybe @tpmanley can help me?

I’ll send you a PM

Still not having much luck pairing 2 more Tradfri drivers. Would love some feedback from others who have got this working.

Didn’t Tom’s PM provide any guidance?

Not making any progress so far

So I unplugged and re-plugged the working Tradfri driver and checked out the zbjoin event for it.

I refuse to believe this led driver works flawlessly and the other 2 are faulty. The 2 I’m trying out are already 2 new ones after I took 2 back because they didn’t connect. So are 4 of 5 Tradfri led drivers unable to connect to ST?
