Just following up on this thread. Is there an automation available to schedule start Samsung dryer in order to take advantage of lower electricity rate in the early morning?
So I eventually managed to get my Washer & Dryer added to SmartThings. Unfortunately despite the SmartThings documentation saying you should have the capability to add automations during the setup process and/or after the fact, nothing is currently available.
I was talking to support at the time and brought this up and they confirmed that itās not available right now.
Also, since I added the appliances, connecting to them through SmartThings is pretty hit or miss. When you open the device, it seems to just be using SmartThings as a shell to display the Samsung Smart Home interface. Iām not sure if the issue is the Smart Home app, the connection through SmartThings or SmartThings itself, but rarely can I even access manual control through SmartThings. Overall still disappointed in the whole situation with these appliances.
Hi, how you figured out to connect the washer and dryer to smartthings? I have the 6500 ones and It keeps searching forever and it cant find them. I tried support and they are ācontacting developersā because they dont know anything else to debug.
To connect you need to hold the " Smart Button" at the dryer/washer for 3 seconds until it chimes? I am doing that and receiving the notification thru smart home app but smartthings cant see them.
Iām still not entirely sure what I did differently to get it working honestly. I obviously connected it first via the Samsung Smart Home app. And Iām sure I did this multiple times, but I made sure the SmartThings app was searching for the device before I turned on the Smart Control. That seems to be the key thing, make sure Smart Control is not on when you have SmartThings start searching, once itās searching then hold the Smart Button for 3 seconds to turn on Smart Control.
Let me know if that works for you.
Thanks for the reply, thatās exactly what Iām doing
I let it looping at the searching and when I hold for 3 seconds it locks the lid and chimes, my smart home app notify me that the smart control status changed but Smartthings just keeps searching hehe
Count me in as another who has a Samsung dryer w/the USB dongle. The dryer connects to the Samsung Smart Home app, but wonāt connect to SmartThings app.ā
I tried the ātrickā above about starting the search from SmartThings and then turning on Smart Control on the dryer, but that didnāt help.
Also tried turning the dryer off and and on while ST is searching, also tried running the dryer when ST is searching. All no-go.
Anyone getting this to work to connect the dryer to SmartThings?
Wow, Iāve since entered crazy town with this.
Decided to redo my network connection to the dryer to see if it helped.
Re-ran setup in the Samsung Smart Home appā¦selected Dryer, completed setup, but when I hit done at the end when the setup was successful, I was dropped back to the home screen showing a washer had been set up.
Cleared data on the app, uninstalled, reinstalled the app, tried with an iPhone as well, unplugged the dryer, removed and re-inserted the dongle, tried with a different Samsung account, but no matter what I did the app always sets up the dryer as a washer.
Insaneā¦one hour chat support and no resolution.
Aieeee!
Mine added the dryer as a washer as well, I was just so happy to get the fāing thing added to the app I didnāt care. It still notifies me when cycles are complete, thatās what I was really concerned with.
The support on the whole Samsung Home setup seems pretty horrible. Any suggestions are more like wild shots in the dark with a blindfold on.
I recently bought the WF7500 and the DV7500, it took me several attempts (hours) at getting them to connect to my WiFi and to be detected in the Smartthings hub. Even though Smartthings identifies them properly, it times out 100% of the time when I try to view them in the app. I am however able to use them reliably via ARTIK Cloud and Smartthings to send speech notifications when thereās 5 minutes remaining, cycle is finished, etc. Samsung really needs to work harder to make sure Samsung products work flawlessly with Samsung products.
Looks like I need to join the party, I have tried for 3 mos. now to get my 6500 washer to connect, I did finally get it to connect one time & when I went to open app it dropped me out never to reconnect. I do get notification of end of cycle but that is all. Samsung needs to do a lot of work on this App or get out all together. One of the big selling points by Home Depot salesperson was the ease of connecting washer to app. We now know that is $%&#

Glad (I guess) to hear itās not just me getting it added as a washerā¦so annoying that this experience is so poor.
Iām likely going to return the dongle and just go back to using power monitoring for tracking end of cycleā¦
I have been trying off an on for months. Although I was able to get the washer and dryer to connect through the SmartHome app; I was never able to get the SmartThings hub and app to recognize them. ST connectivity was one of the main reasons I bought the Samsung washer and dryer. I wonāt be recommending them to anyone.
Anything new on this? Just bought a samsung washer, and was planning to buy the dongle, but reconsidering after reading this thread. Has it gotten any better? Also, couldnt I just use one of the wifi dongles in my drawer instead of buying the Samsung branded one? Or would that be too easy?
:o) Probably too easy. just bought a 7500 dryer & washer. with the dongle. First time setup work well with the āSmart Homeā application. Smartthings things seems to found the dryer too (havenāt try the washer yet) but could not pass the 2nd step for connecting dryer. Not too much impressedā¦ will continue to try and postpone here.
After months of trying and contacting support, I just gave up trying to get SmartThings to work with these.
Iām very disappointed in Samsungās weak support for their āsupportedā washers and dryers. Smartthings integration hasnāt ever worked reliably for me.
I do like and use Samsungās ARTIK Cloud to give me voice notificationās through my Smartthings compatible speakers when the washer and dryer have 5 minutes remaining, and when their cycles have completed. This has been very reliable for me.
@Fredbob711 Sorry for digging up an old thread but would you mind posting the details that show up in the SmartThings IDE for your washer & dryer? Iām wondering if it would be possible to associate it manually. Iāve managed to get mine joined to the AP, theyāre detected in SmartThings, but it stalls at step 2 (iOS & Android, followed all advice above).
Iām hoping that if we pick the right Device Type and put the MAC/IP/something printed on the sticker on the device into the Device Network Id field it will just magically start working.
I got an e-mail a few days ago that the firmware on my hub was upgraded. One of the issues fixed related to adding smart home appliances. To my surprise, I was able to finally join my washer and dryer by following the instructionsāalso being sure to not enable the smart control mode until prompted as mentioned above (it didnāt work when they were already in that mode).
Unfortunately, when I try to view the status of either device in SmartThings it times out with: āConnection End - Please check the power cord connection and the network connection status of the device. Then Press back button and try again.ā Meanwhile, if I switch back to the Smart Home app, it shows up and is displaying the status. Not sure if itās related, but Iām still on the SmartThings account (not the Samsung account). The washer & dryer are installed with my Samsung account.
It looks like itās just a UI issue as I am able to subscribe to events with WebCore. Iām not sure whether itās connecting consistently becauseā¦ wellā¦ all my laundry is clean now.
To answer my own question about the Smartthings IDE data, the Type is āSamsung Washerā, the device network ID is the MAC address in all caps w/o any colons or spaces or anything (i.e., C1275771B12D), Version = Published. I had to pull the MAC address from the DHCP lease on my router after I joined it to the network.
I canāt even get these thing to connect to my Wi-Fi. Has anyone had this issue and is there something I need to change in my network to get them to work?
I get to the last step and all I get is the attached message. I have contacted Samsung support and they have no clue.
Did you ever get this figured out? I used to be able to connect my flexwash washer but then it crapped out, and Samsung replaced the control panel. When I try to add the washer back through the new SmartThings app, I get the exact same thing. I can connect to the washer AP, but when I press the smart control button when prompted, it does nothing. After awhile I get the same error message that you do. Looks like they also disabled the Samsung home functionality for the flexwash machines so impossible to add my network info through there. Beyond frustrated with Samsungās lack of support!
