Problems with V2

Siren just scares the dogs.
Perfect example of alarms being ignored.
They were working on the house next door a few weeks ago. At about 2:30 AM the alarms started going off and continued to sound until they arrived back about 9AM. I’ve had 3 different neighbors as me WTH was with the alarms sounding all night. So everybody in the neighborhood heard the alarms ( myself included) , but not one person thought to call the police/fire to have somebody see why the alarms were sounding.

I should do the integrated ones, but I think I ordered before I knew that was happening, AND I have faith in the community or myself that a device can be created. Plus I support good ideas, and these sound promising and fit my requirements: Blink for Home

Oh wow, that Blink for Home looks awesome! I want some! I wish there were some more reviews out there.

Came home today, Smartthings noticed I arrived and switched to “I’m Home”. Walked up to the door… LOCKED… opened the door… NOTHING IS ON. Went into my router settings and changed it to a locked channel (11 for 2.4ghz and 157 for 5ghz). Reboot the router, pressed “I’m Home” and everything turns on except my Sonos.

I later check my Sonos play list and a weird file was in my queue… I loaded up my google playlist again and everything seemed fine. Tonight at dinner we are listening to music and all of a sudden the Sonos Weather App plays… TWICE!!!
I changed it back to my music again and about 15min later it does it again.

I think I may need to sprinkle some holy water on my V2 HUB. Thank god I don’t have a siren… I can only imagine what would happen then. I hope they get these kinks worked out fast because it feels like I’m using a very infant piece of software in its alpha stage.

I had these same issues on my V1 hub. I had to disable my SmartAlarm because it got so annoying sounding the siren and sending me false alerts.

I discovered in my situation that the problem was related to the automatic “Hello Home” actions (now Routines). I could run them manually and they would work so long as they changed the home modes away from the current mode. If they were scheduled to operate based on some automatic condition, then they would only change the house mode, but wouldn’t notify other SmartApps of the mode change event and therefore in my case, SmartAlarm never received notice that the mode changed in order to change it’s armed status. I could go into SmartAlarm and hit done (or manually run a routine which changed the home mode away from the current mode and then another routine to change it back) and SmartAlarm would then see the new mode but the main issue was the mode being changed by automated routines which didn’t send event notices to apps that were subscribed to location mode changes.

When my V2 hub came in, I had to delete everything (including my home location, which wouldn’t delete, so I renamed it to DeleteMe) and create a new location, then reinstall all devices and setup all new routines and SmartApps in the new V2 location. Fingers crossed, automatic routines and associated SmartApp event notices have been working for 2 days now and I’ve been able to re-enable my SmartAlarm. My other SmartApps experienced the same issue and are now receiving the mode change events and working as expected.

Something I noticed when I switched to V2 is that it does not play well with apples AirPort Extreme. I had the hub about 4 feet from the router and it seems that the signals from the router were too strong and interfering with the signals from the new hub. So I moved the extreme to the other end of the house and connected the V2 hub to my airport express network extension and now the smartthings hub works flawlessly.

I had the exact same problem my V1 and V2. I am actually using and airport express as a network port and moved everything towards the center of the house… works a lot better. As for the V2 I ended up putting it back in the box and went back to my V1. V1 has been working perfectly for me… I will wait until I hear from the community that the V2 is working as expected.
