Has anyone heard of the BloomSky weather stations? They are having a promo so you can get one for free (about $230) if you put one up for 6 months.

To keep this relevant, they do have an IFTTT channel…

I don’t work for them or anything, but I did order one, so we’ll see how it goes.

Edit: You do have to pay for shipping. Mine was $20 UPS.

Well I applied to host one as well, let;s see if I’m approved. Closest ones to me are all 30-50 miles away in each direction. They do have an open API for HA integration http://weatherlution.com/bloomsky-api/

How do you know if you win?

Website shows they have been discontinued. Need to see if I can get to a HD tonight and pick a few up. I assume these will require a special hub if you dont yet have the ST hub? Any idea if they might work with the OSRAM hub?

In reply to keltymd:

They send you an email.

Check on the app or website to see if any are in your city. My city had none, so I applied, and a week later got the email. If your city already has one or more, I dunno… what’s the worst they can do, just tell you no, sorry?

I know it works with Wink perfectlY and with ST (without energy monitoring). Not sure about others

Got my Harmony Touch today, signed up for a new account to move my devices over. First night using it, a little awkward compared to my trusty 880. I have to give it a few more days and see if it grows on me.

Staples website has a few Z wave items on sale at half price. These are very good deals.

Linear garage door controller. This is the same as the one that’s on the official “works with smart things” list and is very popular in the community. Regular Staples price is $99, which is a little high, but the sale price is $49, which is excellent.

Linear siren/strobe ( same as the one in the GoControl security kit). Regularly $59.99, on sale for $29.99.

Aeotec Power strip. This one is a little tricky to get working with SmartThings, but there is community created code to do it using virtual switches. Again, staples regular price is $99 which is about right, and the sale price is $49 which is a very good deal:

Read down through post 351 below: @Toasty points out that if you’re a member of the free Staples rewards club you can get free shipping. And @icculus479 posted a slick deals 15% coupon that will stack with the sale so you can get these even cheaper! :sunglasses:

I’m not sure how long the sale will last, I didn’t see an expiration date listed.

Thank you JDRoberts, I’ve been waiting for a deal on a garage door opener and picked one up.

I also noticed the following two thermostats on sale (Please ignore if these aren’t good deals):
The Honeywell RTH9580WF is on sale right now for $119.99. However it seems like as this is a WiFi model that there is some compatibility issues that are being worked out. Honeywell released a press release 2 weeks ago saying they are committed to making it compatible in the future: https://honeywell.com/News/Pages/Honeywell-and-Samsung-SmartThings-Make-Comfort-and-Control-Even-Easier-to-Have-at-Home.aspx

Lastly, the Honeywell RTH8580ZF is on sale for $94.99 and is Z-Wave compatible.

If your local utility company is still offering the $100 rebates on any wifi/smart thermostat it is an even better deal . Get pad $5 to upgrade to the Honeywell Z-wave.

Just FYI, my utility company rebate conditions say that it is “up to $100” not just $100. So I wasn’t much surprised when for my second ecobee3 they paid “only” $95.40. Odd number, I know… but I am not complaining. There could have been a few factors that affected this - not only this was my second application, but also the proof of purchase documents that I sent showed that I bought it discounted (179.99 when the retail price was about 229.99 I think) and also it was bought from eBay (seller was BestBuy, but still, it wasn’t bough from a retail store).

So, what I am trying to say is - don’t expect to get full $100 rebate for buying a $95 thermostat. It may happen, but it is highly unlikely I think.

I snaked some power strips, and since I am a glutton for ST punishment going to give that community code a whirl. If it works, such a big upside saving that much dough.

I got my 2 Honeywell WiFi for $129 each on sale and got $200 rebate. It might also depend on your utility company policy.

The power strip will let me repurpose the two GE outdoor zwave modules I’m using for my aquarium lights, now I can even add the filter to the strip so I can turn it off/on when feeding! Yeah!

Grabbed the garage opener even though I have a Sommer that i know is somewhat unique, found an ebay review saying it should work, we’ll see. Two power strips as well, good deal being able to monitor 4 ourlets individual power!
