Check what your humidity change setting is. It will get reported if it changes regardless of other settings
. Is it jumping around. You may have it set to .1 %
Well in the screenshot above the HumidChangeAmount is set to 20, I assume that means that it shouldnât report outside of the 10-minute window unless the humidity changes by 20%. Is that not right? I am sure that the humidity is not jumping around as the report that comes in every 11 seconds has the same humidity value.
OK can someone give me hand here, I believe I am using the latest Device Type and have the following problems.
- Temp is off even with an adjustment +9 the room is 69 degrees and the device shows 58.2 and hasnât moved more than 1 degree all night. Is there a way to make it report more?
- My device shows 6 Lux it is in a dim room on top of a clock in the corner of the room so maybe since it is a large room it isnât reporting, I have live logging going to see.
- Motion is on max since it is a big room. Not sure if this is correct setting.
- Current states in IDE show no acceleration but the ST app shows Active, can that be fixed?
Would someone look at my settings and tell me if I have errors?
Also how do I tell if I am in secure mode, and if not do I have to remove and restart? I had a problem excluding it the last time I had to force remove.
Thanks.
Here is my Live logging: It shows Truncated in two places.
Is anyone seeing these devices lock into motion on (and refuse to unlock from that state)?
A couple of times, Iâve been able to âforce themâ by sending a config command, but in a couple of other cases, theyâve remained locked through multiple hub reboots, leading me to believe itâs backend stability issues again.
That usually means the hub has lost communication with the device. Or your mesh network is not strong enough. Try excluding and re-adding the device.
Yes, 3 or 4 devices in the past 24 hours had that happen. One was the Aeotech Multi 6.
Iâm trying to get local execution working for one of my Multisensor 6âs⌠It was previously using RV 2.2, but I changed it to use the âSmart Thingsâ version of this device handler.
However, it looks like it still wonât run locally. Has anyone seen this behavior if you change the device type back to a âstockâ one where it doesnât show up as having local processing?
Did you ever seen this handler as eligible for local processing? I had the same expectation for Fibaro sensor, and after trying everything, I was notified that they âforgotâ to load the handler on the hub, so is just not eligible for local processing no matter what. Well, not quite. I had to let go of all the nice features and went with generic zwave motion handler to make it run locally.
Huh⌠good point⌠silly me - I figure if itâs a SmartThings âOfficialâ device handler, it should be loaded into the firmware⌠what was I thinking?
I got everything to work perfectly during the day, but for some reason it doesnât detect motion at night? Any idea what would cause that? I mean detect, as in the LED does not light up, not just run my set smartapp. I have noticed that if I increase the light in the area with lighting it suddently âwakes upâ and starts detecting again. Can you set these things to only detect motion during certain lux ratings? I didnât see that setting. Iâm using the driver from @Robert_Vandervoort
Hey @djwishbone . That is pretty odd. What do you have the sensitivity set to? Indoors I set the sensitivity pretty high, outdoors I set it all the way down because a warm breeze can set it off⌠I have one in my three year oldâs room and often Iâll lie down with him and whenever I move I see the blue light come on signalling motion, and also I can see it in the logs. So, it is definitely not light dependent. It uses an IR motion sensor so it looks for heat differentials⌠It essentially gets âused toâ the heat pattern in the room, and whenever the pattern shifts, it considers that motion. So light or dark really have little to do with it. In daylight, the sun heats stuff up a bit and relating to body temps, might bring the surrounding area closer to body temp than say in an air conditioned house. I do believe the sensor has a degree of bias towards the floor though. If you look at the back, the side with the notch for the usb cable to pass through I believe to be considered the bottom. So my sensors that sit on shelves I have this oriented downwards and they all work fantastic.
You may want to give the native SmartThings device type a whirl too. While mine has more configuration options, their is written a bit more elegantly. Mine was the first out and it has had some revisions, but I havenât touched it in a while and the SmartThings developed one has come a long way, sensing if youâre on USB power or battery and making appropriate adjustments, sending configuration when it needs to be sent vs having to hit the action and config buttons nearly at the same time. I gotta give them a lot of credit, it took a while but they seem to have done a nice job, even though it isnât âtheir productâ.
I also had the same experience!!! I was in the middle of writing a device handler for the zooZ 4-in-1 sensor, and I was like WTF? WHY WONT THE MOTION GO AWAY IT WAS WORKING FINE! Weirdness. Then I looked and saw a few other things werenât updating either but the IDE worked and everything said it was online⌠It resolved itself in a few hoursâŚ
Hi all - I am looking for a reliable Z-wave humidity sensor and would like to consider this product because of its small footprint. However it seems to have mixed reviews as to whether it works properly and reports its readings well with ST and has mixed reviews. Also it is crazy-confusing as to the different models available and which is the latest and which one is recommended as working well with ST. Can someone please offer some advice as to which version to buy and how well it works with ST? I bought a CT100 thermostat specifically just for its humidity sensor (overkill) since it was said to work well. However Iâm frustrated with it because it doesnât update the humidity to ST often enough - like once an hour. I need at least once every 5 minutes. Thanks!
They work reliably for me. I am using RV v2.1 device type. I just changed the batteries on two of these after 5 months of reliable service. They were on 15 min update intervals which is overkill for my needs so I changed to 1 hr update and will see how long the batteries last now.
Thanks manofhefck! You have the ZW100-A yes? How is the accuracy of the humidity readings?
I have two CT100 TStats as well, I had a ZW100-A sitting on a shelf beside on of the tstats ror a week and the humidity readings were really close. The temps registered within a degree of each other as long as I added an offset when it was on USB power. I suspect the ZW100-A are calibrated on battery power and running on USB definitely affects the temp readings. I observed this on both.
Speaking of the CT100 - did you have any issues with ST not getting updated humidity readings? The temp changes register very quickly, within say 10-15 seconds, but the humidity changes seem to take an hour or longer. I asked in the CT100 thread but no one had any input. Thanks!
What is the native device type called? Iâm using one developed here and the battery percent always shows 100%âŚ

You have to log into the IDE to switch the type just like you do with mine. They donât list it in the add things dialog in the app. Not sure if you didnât have my device type loaded if it would pick it up or not as I havenât tried.
I run mine on USB because they drain those expensive batteries pretty fast with the reporting interval I like. Last I remember however the battery reporting worked fine.
ok, I had switched to Gen 5 but I can try the one you suggested instead. I had found rechargeable versions which have worked very well. I have 2 extra always ready to replace
