[OBSOLETE] ADT Tools 2 for Smartthings ADT alarm sytsems

The button that will disarm the alarm is the one you associated with that action in the ADT Mode Change Integration. Under the section labled “Select what button you want for each mode”.

When you click on the “Mode Change Action” option you are then telling ADT Tools that when the mode changes to a give mode you want to turn on and off these switches. This is to allow someone to say turn off all lights when the alarm is set, or turn on certain lights when the alarm changes to disarmed.

I’ve set it up how you recommended but now I get a server connection error upon saving.

Check that you turned off the option to create the virtual buttons after the first time it needs to be turned off.

That did the trick! Thank’s a ton @Mavrrick58

Can someone help please. I have got ADT Tools 2 installed with a mix of dual branded sensors and standard Smarthings sensors along with a couple of sirens. Contact sensor on Entry/exit is dual branded sensor and has been configured as Entry/Exit type of sensor.

I normally use the ADT ST screen to arm and disarm the siren. I assume I had STH installed when I started - as I can arm and disarm the system using the App virtual buttons. My problem is when I enter thru this door, the siren goes off immediately (not the ADT dashboard siren). What am I doing wrong? I am happy to just stick with dual branded sensors but do need third party sirens. Any help appreciated.

So first let’s make sure I understand your problem. You have a mix of dualbranded devices and standard smartthings sensors. You are getting immediate alarms when going through a entry way that has a dual branded sensor, but only to the additional sirens and not from the alarm panel.

So if that is all correct there are a few points to be made.

  1. The ADT tools integration with SHM provides an exit delay, but does do anything for entry. I think that is part of what is causing your issue.
  2. I think you also have all of the sensors (dual branded and not) in the same alert action. This will cause them all to behave the same and work as non ADT sensors.

To correct this I would suggest the below changes to your setup.
The easiest way to fix this would be to simply create seperate alert actions between your dual branded sensors and the regular ones. When the dual branded sensors are setup as what they are they will depend on the ADT Alarm systems side setting for entry and exit delay. When they are part of an alert action with regular sensors they follow the same rules as the other sensors which simply looks at the alarm armed state.

Thank you @Mavrrick58. You understood the problem correctly.

I will try you suggestion later. Cheers buddy.

@Mavrrick58 I tried your suggestion - created two Alert actions - one with just dual branded sensors for triggering (with the button for dual sensors set to ON) and another one for the remaining sensors (button for dual sensors set to OFF). With my initial test, the siren got triggered as soon as I opened the door with the dual branded sensor.

I must be doing something wrong? Is that what others have been using?

That is what I do. Can you set the alarm the way you want it and then capture live logging from the IDE. I just want to make sure the app is doing what is expected. You should see the child apps in the live logging so if you can send me what each of then are doing I should be able to see what is happening.

By chance have you confirmed you have the sensor set as a entry/exit sensor and not as perimeter sensor in the ADT security manager?

Thanks. Will do (prob next weekend) later as the siren is too loud and scares everyone. I will try a stepped approach - first see whether only dual branded sensors work ok before adding 2nd alert for the other ones.

Yes- have the sensor set as entry/exit.
One bit I am not sure is that for the alert trigger set up for non dual branded sensors, I have an option ‘Did you configure location alarm statussync for SHM?’ which I had set to ON. Should that be OK?

Is it possible to change the Mode (Away, Home or Night) based on the ADT’s armed mode? For example, I want to the mode to change “Away” when I set ADT to Arm (away) and change it the mode back to “Home” when disarmed. Thanks!

The easiest way I can think to do this would be with a virtual button.

In the IDE setup a virtual button that will be used to trigger the Smartthings Mode. Then in the mode integration in ADT Tools have it push that button when the mode changes. Lastly have Smartthings setup a automation that when that button is pushed it changes the mode. You can use the ADT Virtual button device handler for this function.

Trying to install the ADT Tools but when I copy the source code and hit “create” I am getting the following error"startup failed: script_app_metadata_7db11910_3960_40b1_960a_70e8ec1c918e: 256: unexpected token: @ @ line 256, column 1. @@ -0,0 +1,200 @@ ^ 1 error"

I am getting source code from “https://github.com/Mavrrick/Smartthings-by-Mavrrick/commit/cbcca730c9bc89f492e48083a0a16da166e85613

thanks in advance

I am still a newbie to Smartthings but I have installed a custom handler and app. Trying to figure out how to get the APP. First I tried to cut and paste the source code. That did not work (sent a separate post on how I did that one.

I have an account oo GitHub and think I found your repository (GitHub - Mavrrick/ADT-Tools-2: Updated version of ADT Tools with simplified user interface and enhanced functions. & https://github.com/Mavrrick/ADT-Tools-2/tree/master/smartapps/mavrrick) but I do not see any way to “download retrieve” the app. It appears the the parent app is no longer on this page.

thanks

Can anyone help with how to set up this app? From the files that are currently on the Github, it does not look like the instructions in this thread work for setting the ADT Tools 2 up.

thanks in advance

Everything is in the github location. Smartthings puts the device handler in a different folder. Easiest way to deploy it is simply setup the github integration with the the github location and then use the options in the IDE to deploy.

There are a tone of good td tutorials at thingsthataresmart.com about how to use the IDE and github integration.

Thanks Maverick that helps.

Can anyone tell me where the Smart Home Monitor is at? I searched this website and found it is supposed to be in the Marketplace section of the official mobile app. Using the “Classic” app I can’t find anything called Smart Home Monitor in the Marketplace. Thanks

Still being new to Smartthings I was having problems getting this to work even with the instructions on this web page: https://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=ADT_tools_2#How_do_you_get_ADT_Tools

Little things like liking my account and using Github. I found a post by FredderfFRED that had YouTube links that were very helpful, reposting because they were a ways back in the post. Also don’t forget to enable OAuth

@ramar I too came over from Iris a little over a week ago getting the SmartThings ADT Starter Pack. I was in the same boat as you. I did not and still do not know anything about coding, programming or any of that stuff lol. I wanted to download ADT Tools 2 as well so i could do everything i could with Iris and more. I tried looking over all the instructions on these forums but was still lost. I got a lot of help from members with my questions but still was about to give up on ADT Tools 2 as i couldn’t figure out how to install it and go through all the steps. I came across this 10 min video just yesterday that fully explains and shows you on screen how to install webCoRE. I still dont really know what webCoRE is but it’s the same steps that you use to install ADT Tools 2. I installed webCoRE first then went back to watch it again and replaced webCoRE’s information with @Mavrrick58 (who created it) information and it should work for you. I had a few hiccups but wasn’t bad watching the step by step video. Here is the videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=191&v=y_ElUwmmI6Y 6
and here is @Mavrrick58 post with the info you’d replaced the webCoRE information on his first post
[Released] ADT Tools 2 for Smartthings ADT alarm sytsems 2

@Mavrrick58
haven’t had a chance to go though the forum/update the app recently, so forgive me if this has been added already. But, checking to see if you were able to get an alert set up (push and/or text) for a timed event, i.e. “Back Door has been left open for XX minutes”? That was one of the alerts I really liked in the Iris system but haven’t been able to figure out a way to make it work in ST.

Thanks, Erik.

This has worked well for me…
