New Map View Feature (to visualize where devices are located in your home)

Got mine setup… That was annoying.

@Mechsupernova Looks like you took your time and dropped in all the doors, etc… Nicely done!

Has anyone been able to add multiple floors? I have my first floor setup but for the second floor it just does not allow me to upload the image. No error just go backs to home screen.

I had no problem adding multiple floors to three locations:
2 Locations had 3 floors
1 Location had 2 floors

Well, here’s another ‘Samsung Says’…

“Samsung says “Anyone can easily create a 3D layout of their home in Map View using AI technology.” More specifically, users can input their address and automatically create a layout, as long as their homes have their floor plans available on the internet.”

Why would anyone do that?

Excelent tool for someone looking to case the joint LOL

For a lot of home listings I see on Zillow and other sites like that, they show floor layouts sometimes as part of the listing, especially brand new homes. Even though our home is 14 years old, it was on a realtor site in our area with the basic floor plan as part of the listing, so I can see how those images can be collected and used.

Not only that, but property tax record cards also show a crude layout. Here’s one in our county:

The county I’m in used to show the same on the property tax site years ago. It was taken down though presumably for privacy reasons.

At least on Zillow, you can set up an account and “claim” your home. That allows you to “update” the listing–which includes pictures. Replace yours with a cartoon home if you wish! Perhaps Redfin and others let you do the same. I haven’t tried them (yet!) but will probably do so. Our last two homes we sold still show the listing pictures with our furniture in them!

I don’t see map view yet on iOS. Stuck on 1.7.10

I toured the Samsung booth at CES booth today and have some info. The automatic map by address is only in Korea where it’s more common for multi family building to have the same floor plan. Otherwise you can draw in app, draw on paper and/or upload a pic or map with a Samsung robot vacuum. Creating maps will come to iOS, but no exact date but there’s an app update coming in Mar-ish that it might be with.

Any hint of earlier SmartThings app updates coming for features/fixes other than the map feature?

No mention if it

Any guess when this feature will come to users outside US and South Korea?

The map view says it is “3D”. All I can see is a 2D map with slight shadow and borders to give a very slight 3D impression. Overall, it looks like a 2D top-view. I haven’t yet found a way to have it more 3-dimensional. I’m not expecting a full-blown cube-like view, but a little more height adjustment or perspective view would be nice.

Just saw a bunch of announcements for this today but still doesn’t look like it is on iOS yet. Anyone have any other experience?

They told me at CES the iOS support wouldn’t be until March/April timeframe.

Does anyone have an update whether it’ll actually be rolled out in Europe in March? Haven’t found any official statements by SmartThings regarding this
