Hello - I’ve created a brand new Smartthings account (for dev / test purposes) and added a “new location” using the /advanced in my.smartthings.com.
For reasons beyond me, the physical location (Latitude, Longitude) assigned to it was 39.76, -98.5 (which is in Kansas) - and there seems to be no place to change that. What am I missing?
Any pointers to fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks - I just need to dig out an old mobile device and add the app (don’t want to use my primary phone, which I use to manage my main Smartthings account). Thanks for the tip.
I just tried creating a Location using the AWA. It created mine in a field near the village of Kirkoswald in Cumberland (north-west England). That’s a good 250 miles away, which is a lot for England.
By contrast, a Location created using the mobile app doesn’t have a geolocation by default.
[UPDATE] - it’s all showing properly now - I guess it just took 10+ minutes to reflect on the web portal. Anyway, lesson learned - I’ll be more patient next time I make changes.
Well, editing the location by mobile app did the trick. I added a Smartthings Station as a hub on the app - no problem at all. But when I look at it through the portal, it doesn’t show up under hubs.
If I go to the Room I chose for it, it shows up - twice - as MQTT and Hub as the “Type” - but nothing listed when I look under “Hubs”. I also added a Sengled Zigbee dimmer switch as a device. It shows up (and works) on the app - but is no where to be found on the web portal (and yes, I’ve refreshed the browser and cleared cache).
Do the web portal and mobile app teams even talk to each other at Smartthings?
Could possibly have something to do with the location of the POP for your ISP since the AWA has no concept of geolocation. Could also be something related to where ST servers for the AWA are located in your region.
