New Hue delay

The switches should demonstrate the same popcorn effect as the smart bulbs, that’s an artifact of using mesh. You can’t predict which message will arrive at its destination first.

I think it’s just that people are more likely to have multiple smart bulbs in one room rather than multiple controlled switches all triggered by the same event, so the popcorn effect is more noticeable.

I do see this at night with “all lights out” routine. There are six zwave switches on that, and they do go out on different sequences on different nights.

I have a bunch of Hue Dimmers and these are not affected. Quick response as always. They have also saved it a bit for me (and for the wife!!)

Please hurry up with the fix though!

And as of this afternoon we are back to me being up the stairs and already in the little boy’s room before the stair lights come on. :frowning:

I installed the updated app. I have the Gen1 Hue Hub. Discovery worked and I added bulbs. When I complete the last step I get an error.

Update when I load less than 20 bulbs at a time I got past the error. The modified app didn’t resolve the issue though. I’m still not getting status from most bulbs and cannot control them.

I seem to be suffering far worse. I’d be happy with just delays, I have to spend 15 minutes on the native hue app trying to get the lights to respond. Only way to fix is to unplug the smartthings hub.

I have quite bad delay as well, not only that but they aren’t switching off properly

Appreciate that a fix for this is coming. just wanted to add that i am seeing the delay too. Specifically when switching on lights based on smartthings motion sensor events.

who has two thumbs and is also getting a delay :+1::confused::thumbsup: this guy!

although, the delay is not as bad when i ask alexa to turn on/off lights. still a delay… just not as bad

I was briefly excited on Sunday as things seemed to be working better than normal. Not good, but better than it had been.
:confounded:

Now its worse than ever. I know the fix is coming, but I wish I hadn’t had a good day to get my hopes up that changes were being implemented. So now just assume anything working right is a fluke until they announce the actual fix.

:+1: :+1: I’ve always had a lag with Hue comparing to local processing, therefore I don’t use them in any time sensitive applications…

There are no local processing options in the UK. There are no lighting devices or bulbs available in the UK that will run locally. So it’s all cloud for us :frowning:

Hello Everyone, the hotfix to the Hue Connect SmartApp is now deployed (as of ~10 minutes ago). Hopefully everyone’s Hue starts behaving better at the next poll from the cloud (which happens every 5 minutes).

Thanks! The lag has gone!

I can confirm that the lag I was experiencing with my Hue lights seems to have vanished.

Can’t wait to see it in action tonight and claim credit for “fixing” the wife’s under-cabinet task lighting! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Funny thing is ,the Hue strips under the cabinets weren’t delaying as badly as the Hue bulbs. More likely we didn’t notice the delay as much as we noticed walking into a dark room or up dark stairs Did not help the WAF of my "upgrading " Osram & GE bulbs to Hue to improve things and new bulbs taking 5-10 seconds to come on.

I noticed that too. The bulb in the microwave hood is a Hue and was consistently lagging behind the strips.

was anything else changed in the hot fix? Because for the last few days I’ve been having really bad delay on a smart lighting automation that turns on a GE link bulb when a motion sensor reports. But the lag is gone this morning. No Hue bridge involved in that one at all, I don’t have one on my account. :sunglasses:
