@scottashell how do you like the bridge? the reviews don’t look good.
I can’t think of any real problems I’ve had with using it although like anything cloud based there are always bugs.
The Bridge is require for GA and Alexa voice integration to work.
(I did have one motor in my original automation kit that I couldn’t update the firmware but after some troubleshooting they were able to finally send me a replacement motor that was able to be updated.)
Bridge works fine. I’ve had to reboot it (unplug and plug back in) every 2-3 months because it will stop responding.
Is one bridge enough to cover a whole house? or is it only good for one room?
Okay, you guys have convinced me. I’m again eagerly awaiting the integration.
And, like I told mysmartblinds support over a year ago, the integration may entice me to buy more of their products on top of the 5 motors and one bridge that I currently own.
@Automated_House I believe the blinds and bridge need to be within Bluetooth range.
I only currently have one Bridge in the house and have placed in the center of my main floor which is the only floor that I have the smart blinds.
Currently it can see all of the blinds in my house… although 2 of the 4 are showing a “weak” connection but they are connected… and I know that there is a door closed between the bridge and one of the blinds it is also in a room with a desktop computer and the other doesn’t have direct line of site to the blind.
I had one bridge for the 9 blinds in my two story house that has a very compact floorplan. Occassionally, one or two would not respond. I recently bought a tenth blind and it would almost never respond to the bridge. I got a second bridge and it fixed the issue…works better than when I had one bridge for 9 blinds. The general rule of thumb is that your bridge will have the same range as a cell phone’s bluetooth.
I had some challenges getting my second bridge set up, but it turned out to be my Galaxy S9 and not the bridge. Clearing cache and data on the phone app got it the bridge setup working finally. (After MSB support needlessly sent me a replacement unit.)
Per MySmartBlinds as of today. I check in with them every few months. It’s rare that they don’t say “it’s a couple months away”, but I actually think it is close at this point.
“Hello, thanks for checking in, it’s really been a long ride with working on SmartThings. We’ve made a lot of headway and are now just in the stage of doing some final testing and working on a firmware update for the bridge to work with SmartThings. We’re expecting the integration to be available within the next couple months.”
“[…] from what I understand it just took a long time to get responses from Samsung, getting their approval, being pushed through their process, etc.”
I wonder if it will require the latest ST app.
Most likely. All new cloud integrations are done that way.
This would be nice, unfortunately, it’s pretty much been years.
And still nothing … shame on them!
Just checking in if anyone has had any updates on this. I thought they said SmartThings integration would be summer 2019?
It is definitely NOT summer any more. I get that things take time and that is fine but an update would be cool.
If anyone has anything to share please do let the rest of us know.
I think at this point is safe to say it will never happen, they are BS us for the past two years that it will happen.
I’m sorry I purchased this junk.
I reached out to them via the chat on their website and unfortunately they don’t have a timeline for the integration yet.
They lie like this for the past 2 years
They will do anything to lure in more suckers.
I’m not sure this is directed at me or someone else but they specifically stated that while they would like to have the integration they don’t have a firm timeline for it and thus I don’t expect any sort of integration soon.
While I do want integration into SmartThings the blinds are still very useful without that integration and work very well with at least Google Home although I only really use it for voice control.
Point is that they advertised ST integration by 2018, I would have never purchase them without it.
The app they provide is junk, HG works but it’s pretty slow.
Contacted support. Rep was told “SmartThings intergration is in final stages, should be ready in the next few months.” But at this point who knows…
When this first came out I bought it because the iBlinds release kept getting delayed… well looks like I should have just waited.
Highly recommend iblinds.
I have 10 mysmartblinds and recently received my first iblinds motor having backed them on kickstarter (or similar, cant remember) over a year ago.
Installation is the same as mysmartblinds though no manual control.
I don’t actually use them with smartthings but with Vera as a bridge to Home Assistant (which is brilliant by the way) and they work flawlessly.
Really impressed so tried to buy 8 more for the remaining manual blinds in my house but i’m gutted to say that they are no longer shipping to the UK.
Hopefully they start selling to UK again soon.
