Motes

I’m going to work on integrating Motes with SmartThings (I just opened up a project).

From the Indiegogo Motes campaign:

Motes are a family of small, wireless sensors for your iPhone, iPad, Android, Linux or Raspberry Pi device that measure environmentals such as ambient temperature, humidity, light, soil moisture, soil temperature, object temperature, human presence and movement. They last for about a year on a single battery and don't require an Internet connection to work.

These sensors are tiny and they last for a year, so I’m psyched. The Wife Acceptance Factor should be pretty high.

Climote: measures temp, humidity, and light. I'm planning to put one in the attic, one in the wine room, and wherever else.

Growmote: should be great for next year's garden

Thermote: IR temp sensor... no use for that one myself, but who knows.

Watermote: One under every sink and toilet to let me know about leaks before they cause damage.

Securimote: Motion detector and accelerometer. For occupancy detection

Mote.Cloud bridge: allows all the low power BlueTooth devices to talk to the Internet, and thereby to SmartThings.

Check 'em out, let me know if you’d like to help me with the integration!
