Hey guys! I’m pretty new to the whole smart home thing, and to be honest - it’s pretty overwhelming.
Eitherway, I recently installed a Samsung reverse cycle airconditioner with built in wifi, which is connected to SmartThings. I’d like to be able set up an automation to switch it on when the ambient temperature in the room is too low/too high (along with a few other conditions).
Is anyone able to recommend a suitable temperature sensor I can use that does not require a hub? I’m happy enough if the device is mains, not battery powered - as I know wifi chews through more power than zigbee etc.
Mains powered via USB. Set up with the SmartLife app and integrates to ST via cloud->cloud integration. I’m using it to control an outlet for an exhaust fan.
How are you getting smart life to share temperature data with SmartThings?
In my app (located in the USA), it shows that it can share only these 12 categories (can be found by going to “Me” - “third party services” - “SmartThings” - “categories”:
And no data showing up in SmartThings, and based on this category section, think that no temperature sensors work.
Please let me know, as if it works with your specific temperature sensor, and you see the exact same categories as me, then I will purchase that sensor.
Thanks for the response!
I did the same thing, but would you mind checking your category section to see if it’s the same as mine? That way I will know that we have the same situation and I’ll just go ahead and buy it.
I am seeing the same categories as you and I have never had a SmartLife, WiFi, temperature sensor show up in SmartThings. Also the SmartLife, WiFi, temperature sensors go through batteries pretty quickly.

I got the sensor @h0ckeysk8er suggested and it works great! The temperature and humidity show up in smartthings when connected to the smartlife app, and it’s USB powered so that I don’t have to worry about batteries.
Thanks for all the help!
