I recently moved from Homeseer to SmartThings and it seems like SmartThings is even more restricted on capabilities and a lot of basic functionality is missing.
I bought a Leviton DZ1KD-1BZ dimmer to work with SmartThings. I do see all the on and off reporting instantly, its just that there is no way to differentiate between physical on/off an app on/off.
Scenario:
There is motion in the room, the dimmer turns on automatically. While the dimmer is still on and someone tap the dimmer, then it should stay on.
I second this finding. My Leviton DZ1KD-1BZ dimmer is either:
A) not correctly reporting the PHYSICAL switch interaction as physical or
B) SmartThings Z-wave dimmer generic device type handler isn’t correctly handling the physical interaction.
Interestingly enough the Leviton DZ15S-1RZ (non dimmer switch, same product line) does in fact report the physical interaction. This is easily verified in my testing of a CoRE piston to notify me of physical switch interactions.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or have all ZWave dimmers always lacked the ability to differentiate between programmatic and physical device interactions?
This was occuring with me and opening the air gap for a minute and 1/2 then closing fixed it. Check of the instructions on the Leviton site for how to open the air gap. https://www.leviton.com/en/products/dz1kd-1bz
