I had set up a friend with a ST system, just basic stuff. He uses an Iphone. I, however use Android and am not all that familiar with how Iphones work.
So my question. He is going to get a new phone. Do the apps, such as ST app, automatically reload based on his apple account or will he have to manually re-install the app? He doesn’t know and was asking me and I don’t know…
If he restores from an iCloud backup the app will be there.
I find varying results whether he’ll have to log back in again.
It’s about 50/50 from my experience.
If they are using the presence sensor in the ST app, they will need to remove the old presence sensor instance and install a fresh copy of the phone presence sensor in order for it to work on the new phone.
If he is an iTunes user, have him perform a Full Encrypted Backup of his old phone through iTunes on his desktop computer. Then, restore this backup to his new iPhone. This will preserve as much as possible, including may passwords for things like his email accounts, etc… Not 100% sure about ST login though.

The second they introduced backup and restore from iCloud I ditched that dumpster fire of an application known as iTunes. But that’s another topic for another day.
