Glad to see you @JDRoberts & let me & im sure others know what we can do to help get you back online fulltime.
To be clear: Iām not back.
A friend in the community saw @h0ckeysk8er ās post describing the situation, literally read it to me, and I dictated a reply into Notes, sent it to him, and had him post it for me. As we are doing for this post.
But we arenāt going to do that often, itās too much work for both of us. And Iām not scanning the forum like I used to, because the navigation to get in and out of the posts is too much work.
I wish everyone well, I appreciate the good thoughts, but the forum just isnāt workable for me now.
Thank you @Andreas_Roedl. Just loaded the driver and added my sensor. Seems to be working good!
Slightly off-topic: the device itself looks interesting, but the driver is one of the worst Iāve ever seen:
Thanks @Andreas_Roedl for the driver works very well and also i have no problem in paring it to my v2 hub, not working by multiple taps for the link button but somone mentioned about pressing the link buttons 4 times then it was found instantly, hope that helps
@Andreas_Roedl great work on the driver! Looks like there was some challenging hurdles to overcome there!
One thing Iāve noticed in pairing SmartThings with Alexa is that the device reports to Alexa as a Temperature Sensor, and as such shows only the temperature on Alexa.
Iām wondering if thereās a way in the driver to have it report to SmartThings as a multi-sensor - so Alexa can be aware of humidity, tvoc, PM2.5 etc?
Interesting question. Never really thought about it. Thereās nothing I could do in the driver to make the integration possible. But I can investigate how the SmartThings cloud determines what it exposes to third-party clouds and what the Alexa cloud accepts.
Next weekā¦
I am just interested to know the TVOC numbers during this winter as the place i live it hovered around -3 to zero and above degree celcius and I can see both the TVOC and PM 2.5 getting worse in general and from what I googled it seems related to deicing of salt for the road?
My TVOC number raises from 0.06x to 0.4x ppm from over 1 week plus period and it doesnt look very good, PM 2.5 doesnt look as bad in general but it has gone from 2 at best but 20 at max
Not sure others having the same device their experience
A pm2.5 of 2-20 is enviable!
Hereās an explanation for the VOC index:
In short: if you put the sensor in a vacuum, itāll show a tVOC value of 0. The same is true, if you place it in a porta-potty at a festival on a hot summer day for long enough.
Thanks for the explanation sounds like to me it is just a relative number for TVOC while i assume PM 2.5 is more useful, I actually have a Levoit 300 air purifier as a comparison for the PM 2.5 and the Ikeaās reading seems pretty close to the purifier i just donāt understand how to interpret TVOC so thanks for the reference
Thank you for all your hard wok on this! I also think the approach with the driver to only include the necessary code is great. So much easier to follow what itās doing.
Want to add my thanks for the work done on this driver. I picked up the device this weekend and everything is working great.
I just wanted to thank you for creating this driver. Itās great to finally have access to the data from this sensor, which I had unfairly tucked away in a drawer.
I just have one question to better understand something: why isnāt this sensor considered in the homeās 3D map summary for creating the air quality tab and its corresponding map graphic?
That said, thanks again for the amazing work!
I tried to enroll in the driver channel but it never completes after clicking the Enroll button. I was able to enroll in the Smartthings official driver channel just fine. Is this an issue with my hub or the channel?
Are you using this link?

Thanks, that one worked. Previously I was trying the one from your github.
Thanks for reminding me to change the link!
I could not get it to pair by just putting it in pairing mode. Using someone elseās advice from above, I got it to pair with these steps:
- Install the driver.
- Put Vindstyrka into pairing mode (pair icon should flash).
- Start āScan Nearbyā in Smartthings Android app.
- Tap the small pairing button on Vindstyrka four times, the screen will go through some kind of reset.
- Smartthings app will see the device.
Thanks again for the driver, it looks great!
