Ikea Parasoll Window/Door Sensor - Hack to pair them if stuck at closed state

Hey everyone!
Just bought a bunch of Ikea Parasoll sensors and wanted to share a trick in case somebody else at some point faces the same issue I encountered.
Upon pairing the sensor for the first time (using the Mariano’s Zigbee Contact MC driver,) the signal strength and battery status appeared after about a minute but the sensor would get stuck as closed, no matter how many times I triggered the open/close with the magnet. The light flashes on the sensor, but no state change in ST.
The simple hack is to delete the device from ST and re-pair it by pressing the sync button 4 times within 5 seconds. ta-da!!

They respond quickly and are quite thin too which makes them perfect from small window frames. Great buy and good quality sensors for the price tag

hi ellie,
can you post step by step instructions how you paired Ikea Parasoll to Samsung ST hub? I paired Parasoll to the ST hub. Parasoll’s indicators lights flash red when moved apart and moved together, but there the motion is not registered on the Samsung ST mobile app and I receive no notification of a door opening or closing. What am I missing?

Hello @tian
The Ikea Parasoll was paired like indicated above pressing the sync button on the back of the sensor 4 times, it should blink red when ready to pair. Make sure your hub is also in pairing mode tho I am assuming you already did this part. In some cases, devices that do not report the state end up working correctly after being deleted and paired again. I my case, one was stucked in the closed state and would not report back. Repairing fixed that issue.

The driver I use is Zigbee Contact MC available here SmartThings Channel and Drivers

I purchased some of the IKEA Parasoll sensors and find it impossible to pair them with my hub. When I pair them I do have the red flashing light on the sensor and the hub is in pairing mode but I get no response that they have paired. When I look in my Hub devices I see Zigbee Thing connected. I assume this is the Parasoll, but I can not use it. What am I doing wrong? I see others have successfully installed these devices. Would like to join the crowd.

Have you installed Zigbee Contact MC driver?

Here are instructions how to install Zigbee Contact MC driver:

I have been avoiding installing drivers, are drivers required for these sensors to work?

Yes. SmartThings’ own drivers do not support these newer Ikea devices.

That worked - thanks very much
