Hub retirements (2021) V1, Nvidia Link, ADT

Totally disappointed by the news from Samsung of discontinuing the service. In addition, the replacement they offer have less functionalities. And to make matters worse, they answered to me that I cannot request a refund since the products are not in the US.
When it happened to me with other international well-known companies they offered alternatives to deliver to local subsidiaries or they offered alternatives to solve the problem they created to me

Correct. v2 isn’t being made anymore, but is still supported and receiving firmware updates.

Here is the ADT Hub Replacement Link.

Well fill out the refund request for the panel and all of the dual branded sensors. Then either get the aeotec hub, or other brand and start excluding from the old hub and the including the sensors back to the new hub device it will be a bit of a pita as zwave requires additional steps. Zigbee may be just a factory reset and then initate the discovery though.

It will take time but just take a weekend or something and rip off the bandaid then when done let your zwave mesh have a day or two to stablize. It wont be a 5 min task but wont take as long as you might think either.

Personally i got a Hubitat c7 hub and used an app called Hubconnect from hibitat to link the environments together. Then i moved devices over from one to the other i took care to copy over my automations and app functions as i went to ensure everything worked as expected and somwthing wasn’t missed. Just be aware while this is happening no matter what hub the zwave mesh will require time to stabilize as you progress. You may also have a period if you move slowly were the mesh is weak on both hubs. That is why i would try to do it all at once if you can.

So I filed out the refund request. What are the next steps? All I got was a ticket number. But no instructions.

Let us know if you get an email. I submitted refund request. Got a quote with a ticket number. But no next steps.

I just received a phone call. Unfortunately, my Link is no longer eligible for a refund even though the system initially stated I would get $14 for it. I have already ordered to Aeotec hub…now the waiting game.

Actually got shipping/tracking for my Aeotec hub last night. Shipping via USPS with ETA of this Saturday.

Is this Aeotek hub offer the only option for existing v1 hubs? I have the newer one in a different location, assumed there is still an ST hub one could migrate to. But they are only talking about an Aeotek hub option. Anyone have thoughts here on alternatives for the v1 that will function with all the other devices? Thanks!

Samsung announced a few months ago that it is getting out of the business of selling and supporting smartthings branded hardware. They will continue to provide the cloud and the app, but they are turning over the hardware, including the hub, to partners.

Aeotec is The partner for both North America and Europe.

Their first offering appears to be identical to the V3 version of the smartthings hub except with a different logo. But there will be no other smartthings hub going forward, that’s the current version.

Here’s the official announcement thread on that:

Thanks, apparently missed that plan entirely

Same situation, moving to Habitat today. Zigbee devices are a snap 1) delete from Samrthings, 2) Reset device top put in pairing mode, 3) Add to Habitat. It’s the Zwave devices that are killing me. I know a few are networked. Unsuccessful so far moving GE/Jasco 4001s. I have no docs and can’t find any on the web. I am not sure if I excluded it from S/T since they removed the util from mobile, trying the IDE but I see no messages when running it. And I don’t know how to reset it. It’s different from the others. 3 TAP and 10 Tap procedures don’t work it seems. Maybe it’s not excluded yet? How can you tell? Once I solve it, I need a Zwave network strategy. I am thinking start outward moving in deleting and excluding, then start inward to out for re-adding on new hub?

I’m not sure I understand all of the details of what you are asking, but when you set up a new network, you should always start with the hardwired devices which are closest to the hub, then move outwards from there. That establishes the Z wave “backbone“ for your network.

After that, you can go back and add the battery powered devices.

See post 11 in the following thread. this link will take you directly there.

A Guide to Wireless Range & Repeaters - #11 by JDRoberts

As far as excluding, it will be a little bit easier if you begin by excluding the battery powered devices, in any order you like. Then exclude the mains power devices starting with the ones that are farthest away from the hub and working your way inwards. That way you won’t have the problem of having removed a repeater that you need to reach a device that is farther away.

All of this advice would also apply when moving from, say, a V1 smartthings hub to the new Aeotec hub.

As far as issues with setting up specific Devices on Hubitat, you will probably get the best and fastest answers by asking those questions in the Hubitat forums:

Some Jasco/GE older zwave devices are a real pita to move. Many folks in the Hubitat forums have simply upgraded them instead of trying to migrate them. It is largely due to the older zwave tech in them. Some also must be excluded from there network as they dont habe a full reset option. I know i struggled even with the zave plus versions ones i had.

It is disgraceful for them to not even offer 10% of the estimated value when they are choosing to brick the device.

The form specifically stated that we should provide the receipt for the hub only!

Yea but i feel like you can’t have it both ways. Either it didn’t sell well and is something that really failed and is insignificant or they are killing a successful product which makes no sense. If it is a failed product it shouldn’t cost to much for the refunds.

Ofcourse it could just be the relationship failed and it was successful, but then why didn’t Smartthings see that and just move away from ADT use StHM to manage it.

It can still make sense from a business point of view if ADT decided that they had too many support headaches With the smartthings home automation piece and/or if they decided they didn’t want a partnership, they wanted more control.

Which could be inferred from the fact that about a year after the smartthings product was released, ADT purchased a different company, the one that is now called “blue by ADT,” to be their DIY line.

.

Basically ADT doesn’t need both, and for whatever reasons, they decided they like the blue by ADT option better.

Yea. I get what happened on the ADT side. I think I was thinking really about the idea that it cost to much for Samsung to offer fair refunds for the product they are bricking.

What are folks doing to look up there Smartthings ADT Security Panel Serial number. is it present somwhere in the IDE, or in the menu options for the hub. I would like to look this up so i can start to get this submitted sooner rather then later for the refund.
