This is good news. I was away from home for six days and last three days hub was active/inactive. I had my alarm mode set on but what good it does if hub is in inactive state. Luckily I live in country where it is super safe and neighbors do look out for our place. Also water leak could have gone unnoticed due to this glitch. I’ve used ST for over year now and this is the biggest issue I’ve faced. Not a game changer yet but super annoying.
This has been the first issue that has had me considering jumping ship to home assistant, primarily due to the complete lack of communication from ST staff through both the support channel and here. My support ticket has been open for over two months now and the post from @Terri_Baker is the first update I’ve seen indicating that there’s progress on this.
I bought ST hub just before Edge beta stage was announced and all my devices are Edge compatible so I’ve dodged the bullet of migrating devices from Groovy to Edge which seems to be real problem for some of the older users. Therefore I haven’t seen any reason to jump the ship. But if I can’t rely on hub staying active more than few days in a row and getting message from my wife that house is not working then something has to be done.
I power cycled my hub last Thursday. Today I’ve got at least 6 notifications that my hub is offline/online. This good period lasted almost four days. This loop used to cause some of the devices to go offline and only deleting and re-pairing was the solution. Thankfully with the developer of these drivers we have managed to get things staying online after reboot/power cycle so I don’t lose some of my routines.
Is there anything that we as users can do to improve the stability of our hubs?
Support is now pointing to this community topic as the place where SmartThings staff are providing updates, though as yet there has been no update posted. Can you give us any information???
Hi @philh30, we believe that for most users the firmware release that went out this past week (44.9) should resolve the issue – we confirmed this in the beta populations (internal and external).
@philh30@Terri_Baker I think escalating up through support and having them capture relevant data is the right next step. We’re confident that the incidence of the symptom across the fleet should be greatly reduced but it is a symptom that can come up in a number of scenarios. I didn’t mean to imply that this absolutely resolved all problems that may result in a similar symptom.
Is there any assistance you can provide to make that happen? I opened ticket 1367853 over two months ago, and never got past the “try rebooting your hub” level of support. Apparently that ticket was closed without notifying me, and now I have ticket 1396839. That’s two months of my hub going offline every day or two, getting nothing but canned responses from support, and no updates here. I’m not too enthusiastic about repeating that with a new ticket.
Can you provide any information on what those scenarios are? If I need to change something to have a more stable experience, I’m willing to do so. I don’t know where to begin troubleshooting though.
