Hub 2 Backordered vs ships 5-7 days (AKA all shipping related posts, please)

I cancelled my amazon preorder and ordered today through ST, but I have a bad feeling its going to be like the traffic jam in office space where the other lane always ends up going faster. :smile:

That’s what I would like to know. It seems if they are working on it so intensely, we will get it sooner through Amazon but if there’s something else going on we don’t know about it would be quicker to cancel and wait two weeks.

Yes, please just be transparent and tell us what is the fastest way. At this point I think you would want to do that and please people or give them insight into what is actually going on vs. losing sales. Granted the people on this forum are the minority compared to might be buying the product in masses we are still a good marketing vehicle to get the word out

my pre-order from ST store changed from backorder to pending last night…so I guess we will see.

I would not recommend cancelling the Amazon order. When I pre ordered the Echo from them, they gave a much longer than actual shipping estimate. Returns and cancellations with Amazon are very easy as well. If you really want to get the hub the fastest way, order from ST and cancel the Amazon order if ST ships first. I suspect the ST cue is very long. I ordered on the 18th via ST and am still backordered. I had started to take down my existing system when I read Ben’s post about shipping last week, as I have a complicated system with well over 100 things and more I’ve been waiting to connect since learning about the migration procedures. I stopped taking down the system because it appears there must have been a lot of day one orders if at almost a week later they haven’t gotten to day two orders. Victims of their success?

My order was “Day 2” and my credit card was pre-authorized (again) last night, so I must be soon. No shipment info yet and I mistakenly checked-out as guest so my dashboard does not give me an order status.

zats not funny, where is my shipping confirmation for my preorder? If new purchases should ship 5 to 7 days, I would have been better off purchasing on the first day v2 was available? It’s been, well you know how many days from the launch…

Amazon customer service said the hubs are drop shipping from Samsung. Who knows if this is true or not. Seems I get a different answer every time I call.

Did they mean they are drop shipping now or did they give you any indication of when we should see them?

Are there any updates on the Amazon pre-orders? I was one of those that did an Amazon pre-order on the 17th before the ST Shop had their pre-order up. My order still estimates delivery of Oct 1.st to Dec. 16th.

Should we cancel these pre-orders and order from the ST shop instead? Are those going out faster?

Sometimes I feel like the fates are against me from ever owning a SmartThings Hub… :frowning:

No updates. If you browse the responses a bit, seems like Amazon is giving many different answers for the problems. They actually told me that they had shipped a ton out but that demand was really high so they’re out of them now and waiting on more. I find that very doubtful since I pre-ordered almost the second they went on sale. The guys here at ST obviously know what the issue is. I mean, there’s no way you can convince me that they’ve had this giant release but have no clue why their products aren’t shipping. For days now, we’ve all been trying to find out, simply, what the issue is. We haven’t asked for ST to solve it, just to let us know the status. But they seem more concerned with punting responsibility than providing a straight answer. A simple, “Hey guys, we had a much higher demand than anticipated and haven’t been able to get these things to Amazon as quickly as we’d hoped,” or whatever the issue actually is, would do wonders for their credibility, but all we’re getting is “check with Amazon” or “we can only control one side.” Meh.

I wouldn’t be too quick to cancel orders. My pre-order from the 17th at the ST shop still hasn’t shipped.

I have the charge appearing on my Amex today for the full $99. I hope that means it’s shipping today!

My card was charged 3 days ago and the site showed “completed” and “ready” 2 days ago. Still haven’t received a “Shipped” notice so I wouldn’t count on it shipping that soon.

Hey all,

An update to my order today. I was supposed to get it tomorrow (Friday) but USPS updated my shipping time, and it’s actually already at my house…?!
I guess we will see when I get home, ~ 5 hours.

I think I may have also pre-ordered as guest as well. When I login to ST I do not see any orders listed, but i do have the confirmation email and confirmed with support that i have an order. I looked for some sort of order number lookup in the Shop link but cannot locate it. I’m sure i will get an shipping confirmation soon but it may be wise for ST to add some sort of order lookup, unless of coarse its already there and I just cant locate it. Looking forward to setting up and I am glad I did wait and not purchase V1 a month back.

I was just told 10-14 days by ST customer service. I ordered on the 18th from ST website. I think we need to adjust our expectations outward, based on that. I have a good opportunity to improve my patience.

Given the timeframe that @Ben posted yesterday for NEW orders (posted yesterday) I have to believe that something ordered over three weeks ago should be much sooner than 10-14 days! I wonder if we could get a better idea by comparing our order numbers to those who’ve received shipping notices, but I don’t know if they’re sequential or not.

When I ordered on 8/18 " anticipated " shipping was by mid-September. I am still going with that time frame and am planning on it arriving sometime next week.

I really do not understand all the fuss and confusion. ST store had preorders for delivery mid September and Amazon preorders were for delivery Oct 1-Dec.15 . This was why I chose to save ST the Amazon commission and order directly from ST store. What good was 2 day Prime shipping going to do if
1 it was not going to ship for over a month and
2 Amazons estimated ship date was 2 weeks later than ST store ?

ST still had free shipping just not free 2 day shipping .

By all accounts by everybody, they are both living up to when they claimed they would ship.

Now if either had promised " release day delivery" of September 3, than yes we could all complain that we had not received our new toys yet, but they did not.

If it changes anything. I contacted support on Thursday of last week and I was told “7-10 days”… I received it today, for a total of 7 days. I ordered on the 17th about 30 minutes after release.
