HELP! Lights turning off and on randomly

I currently have enbrighten zigbee dimmers #43080.

They’ve been installed for quite a while with no issues.

Yesterday, I was trying to make a verbal announcement through Alexa when my alarm was armed. Initially I joined my connected alarm panel to Alexa. (It also was first enrolled /linked to my SmartThings account).

Since I was unable to achieve this through Alexa. I went ahead and was able make the announcement.w/.Alexa when any of the contacts for doors and windows were open.

Ever since then flights of interning on and off randomly.

I went ahead and deleted all the alarm contacts in Alexa and deleted the away mode.

I also disabled the automatic arming of my alarm since the response is said to turn on certain lights.

Well lights are still coming off and on in the middle of the night. Spousal approval is at an all-time low.

The only thing I can come up with is to delete all the lights and then re-add them and then reset up all my routines.

Otherwise it’s a full reset on the hub which I really don’t want to do. Although what wouldn’t be too bad since most of my Aqara products are attached to the Aqara hub

Thanks for the input!

It didn’t dawn on me…

Ok, just checked. Sadly, Hunches is shut off,so that’s not it.

Hunches was removed from Alexa in June of 2026.

You shouldn’t need to do either of those things. Worst case would be to unlink Alexa from ST and then relink. but i wouldnt’ go that far.

A couple things I would look at:

  • Look thru your Alexa voice history under Alexa Privacy,. See if Alexa thought she heard something that was a command and it just affected the wrong device.
  • Make sure your devices in Alexa have a room specified if you use rooms to tie devices (esp lights) to the Echo device in that room. When you remove/recreate a device, it doesn’t put it back in the room even if its in a room in ST. This only matters for Lights as other devices won’t respond to “turn the room off” type requests. The fact that its lights only points to something like this.
  • So some of your dimmers are paired on the Aqara hub and some on the ST hub? Why have 2 Zigbee networks?

Thanks for all the detailed information!

I was unsuccessful and lights still randomly turn off and on.

Sug through the Alexa app ( found it awkward to navigate) disconnect the app from ST… No dice :game_die:.

With the wife getting extremely displeased, I ended up deleting everything and resting the hub.

It is actually working better than ever but kinda disappointing. This rest got rid of the lights flickering at low levels of light.

Now I just have to build about 10 routines. Not too bad I guess.

Thank you so much for your help. I will say, even though I wasn’t able to find it, while I was deleting devices from Alexa, some lights were under the category away lights. I think somehow the away function was removed but the routine did not delete. Another reason to only use echo devices when you have to.
