My lights have recently been randomly turning on. Everything has been working fine for years. I have a v3 Hub. I went away last weekend and turned on the Alexa away feature. When I came back, I disabled the away mode on Alexa. However, lights are still randomly turning on. I have gone so far as to completely delete the away mode on Alexa. I have rebooted the Hub multiple times. I have requested the Hub log to be dumped. An example of the one of the lights that turned on was “Sconce” at 4:27 AM CT on October 17, 2025.
I have no hunches. I checked that. I have disabled the Alexa SmartThings skill, and that seems to have corrected the problem so far. However, that means I cannot use voice commands.
Update: It seems to be most definitely be an Alexa-related issue. I disable the Alexa skill for SmartThing only. However, I have some other devices which are not Zwave and they are still being activated. Once I disable the Alexa skill, the Smartthings devices have not been triggered.
