I’ve been searching for a smart fan for several years that is no proprietary or just wifi. I just noticed that Govee has one that appears to be Matter enabled over wifi. Has anyone used it with ST? Something weird going on with that one. Lots of complaints about it Not working with matter yet on Reddit. And the manufacturer’s website says that it does not work with SmartThings.

And the reviews on the Amazon page that you linked to say that they are expecting “upcoming” matter support, but it isn’t here yet.
I also can’t find any of the usual Matter bloggers who’ve done a review of it.
Researching a little deeper…
Fans were not in the first release of matter, but they were included in the 1.2 specification. Which most home automation platforms have not yet implemented.
SmartThings did announce that a hub update less than a month ago included support for some of the 1.2 specification, including fans.

So I don’t know for sure, but I think it is likely that when that fan was first released, it did not work with SmartThings via matter. It might now, but I haven’t heard of anyone who’s actually tried it yet.
So at my own risk for a future upgrade… I searched for ST, but not Mater. I got the separate lamp pro and its not been updated either but hoping for that one as well. Of course I’ve been waiting on the Yale Assure 2 Matter insert, so not clear if that one will happen…
Might be worth the risk that it shows up soon.

That doesn’t imply Matter though?
Just the opposite: that’s the official standards organization for matter, and shows that the fan is indeed officially certified. For matter.
its been ordered, so we’ll see if it works with ST or just the Govee app.
I was on a break from ST for awhile but plugged my hub back in and started adding stuff last night.
I have this 42" fan and can confirm it works over Matter in ST.
One option is to buy “dumb” fan with ir-remote and control it via cheap ir-blaster from ST. Has been working like a charm for me.
I bought two fans recently and made sure that they are at least as dumb as me. Integration into ST happened with smart plugs.
How much functionality do you get in ST?
I’ve got one set up that way and that works fine as the speed and orientation are set and don’t need to change. I use sensors for occupancy and temp to turn it on and off.
I can answer this! I just got the same fan and it is matter compatible. But adding it to smartthing it shows up as a thermostat and you can only control the fan speed despite it "looks like " the command didnt go thoroughly. Here what it looks like.
Fan arrived yesterday. Did you have any issues setting it up with Matter? Govee app setup went well, but It took two tries to get the matter details to show up. Then I have to manually key the code into the ST app as the QR code is not printed anywhere. I tried twice and got error 39-900 that says to have BT on and for the phone to be on the same network. BT is on. I’m sure my iphone is on the 5G wifi, not 2.4G wifi. Do I need to force my iphone on to 2.4G to pair this?
Yes.

For me it took like 30 min for the fan and the govee app to remember it has matter and pop the option. Also i never got a matter qr code on the product so i had to use the app. Also i believe it only 2.4g wifi
So I saw the Govee Matter linking times out after 15 minutes, at which point, you need to do a reset to get the Matter to pop up. Although I was able to initiate linking via ST add matter or via the pop up and can enter the code manually, but even with my iphone set to 2.4G (another pain to update my other 5G wifi devices to a different band), I still get the same ST error. Any other ideas? As an FYI, I added the Eve plug via Matter, and it was the easiest ST install I’d ever had- but it didn’t use Wifi.
Dang, maybe it’s your Wi-Fi. I have a Nest Wifi, so it automatically switches it to 2.4 GHz, but I can still see it despite being on the 5 GHz. Also, I do remember when connecting it took a long time for it to go through. I just left my phone and came back. I do have a Galaxy, and it could be an Apple issue too.
