Hi, i was looking for some help here as i am not able to connect my Govee devices which support matter to ST
Devices are just connected to the Govee app but when trying to add to st it gives me an error code displaying the correct name of the device but not adding it
Specifically: Floor Lamps Pro, Strip Lights M1, Air Purifier
It took me a few tries to get my Floor Lamp 2 added via Matter…I think doing the scan for new devices, then scanning the QR code when prompted was the method that finally worked vs scanning the QR code directly to add.
Check out my lengthy descritpion of how I got my Govee Table Lamp 2 to connect at this link:
[Govee Table Lamp 2 - Matter Connection to SmartThings]
It may not be any use, but one thing that seems to be important, connect to ST as the first step. In my case, I did Govee app first, but then had to go back do a device reset to the Govee Lamp, go through Matter connection process and then finally reestablish the Govee App connection. The good news is that once the App has connected (the first time), it immediately reconnects any time thereafter without the need to do the whole pairing process again. It must keep the handshake parameters stored in the app so it works every subsequent time.
One final note, when you do a device reset, even though there’s no visual indication, the device is in “pairing mode” for ST for only 15 mins. If you don’t get the connection in that time frame, you have to reset it again. In my instance, upon reset, the instant I opened the ST app, it presented the Govee Lamp ready for connecting to ST via Matter and I followed the process via scanning the QR code, selecting my appropriate Wifi network and it connected.
You can only use the original QR code to connect to a single ecosystem. Once the device has been commissioned into an ecosystem, there has to be a method to initiate multi-admin by either generating a new QR or by directly linking to another ecosystem. So if you start by commissioning a device in ST, you have go to the device card, click the 3-dot menu, and select “Share with other services”.
So, since you started in the Govee app, you would have had to generate a new QR code or link to ST in their app (if available). Also, once you factory reset a device, the original QR code can then be used again.
I’m having issues connecting with Floor lamp 2 pro. I used Govee app for both this and the fan. The fan linked to ST Matter fine. Isn’t the Govee link via BT/Wifi, not Matter?
I can display the code and even start the ST integration, but it hits a wall at the IOS keychain step. I’ve made sure I’m on the same Wifi network and confirmed there was no prior entry in Keychain for it.
