Bunch of my GE\Jasco stuff stopped working this weekend. Is this related to the migration? Still shows online, just can’t control anything.
use the following community developed tool to look at your devices: API Browser+
locate the device, tap on Details. check if it is using DTH or an Edge Driver. You can post a screenshot of the Details screen if you need others to assist you better.
The one that works is using a DTH, are you using the @philh30 edge driver for the GE switches? I had to install the edge driver, exclude my device, delete the DTH, and then include the device. I had 4 with very similar issues.
I am using whatever Samsung pushed out. The only “Extra” driver I am using is the Phillips Hue Beta so it runs local.
Changing the driver to that GE one is working! So something with the Samsung Generic Z-Wave driver broke my devices?
I have some Leviton dimmers and other devices. Are there drivers for those too?
Other nonfunctional devices:
Here’s a link to the community Edge driver that may help.
You need to first install the driver via the links at the above link.
Then in the app, open your device, hit the “…” menu in the upper right corner, then choose Driver.
Tap the “Select Different Driver” and choose the installed driver.
I see the SmartThings Z-Wave Switch driver was updated on 2023-04-25. That update broke the majority of my devices. Roll back your change please!
This forum was set up several years ago so that customers could help other customers with the smartthings platform. It’s not officially monitored by Samsung staff, except for moderating spam and harassment. So it’s best to make your requests and feedback to the official support line. You can reach that through the “contact us“ page in the smartthings app, or by starting on the following:
I can’t promise anything will happen, but at least that way smartthings staff will see it.
The GE/Jasco drivers from @philh30 provide more settings than the stock driver so you might be better off using that one instead.
Almost all my GE/Jasco devices are ZigBee. I’ve got one GE model 46201 Z-wave on/off switch that was converted to Edge months ago. No issues with this model.
I am finding this driver is working for everything else that was using the stock Z-WAVE Switch driver.

Only issue left is controlling this device. I can only get one side to work if I use @Jorlando74 driver.

I’ve got 20 devices using the stock Z-Wave Switch Edge driver. They include multiple Zooz ZEN27, Zooz ZEN26, Leviton DZ6HD, Leviton DZ15S and the GE Jasco I mentioned.
No issues with any of them.
So far I’ve had minimal need for community-built drivers. As seen in my previous post I’ve only got a driver for my Securifi Peanut Plugs and the vEdge driver.
I’m on a V2 hub.
The Z-Wave Switch and Childs Mc driver from @Mariano_Colmenarejo looks like it supports the Eva dual outlet switch.

Sure does! I am back in business! 100% functional again and I didn’t have to remove and re-add my devices like Support was telling me.
That said… Whenever SmartThings does a driver update, they should keep the previous version or two available for people to fall back on if there are problems.
Different people can have the same model of zwave switch, but have different experiences. There are multiple reasons for this.
-
the device joined at a different security level
-
the people have different custom edge drivers available
-
one of the people is using z wave association, and the other is not
-
partially failed pairing (rare, but can happen)
-
different repeaters being used
-
different firmware levels on the switch, even though they are the same model number
So I always believe people when they say they haven’t had any problems and I always believe them when they say they are having problems. Even for the same model number with the same edge driver.
So do I. Retired career software developer. I’ve seen how complexities can affect deployment of what was thought to be well tested software.
Good list of possible differences.
-
All my devices operate without security.
-
All my Z-wave devices are on the stock driver
-
No use of Z-wave association
-
No sign of partial pairing for my devices
-
With no way to see routing I’ve got no idea of the network paths. No dedicated repeaters installed
-
Have not examined firmware levels but that’s an interesting possibility.
In addition I’d add these factors
-
Model of hub due to differences in capabilities
-
Total number of devices connected by all mechanisms
-
Total number of different drivers installed
-
Total of cloud connected integrations
I’m a relative newbie to SmartThings, having deployed my hub and first couple of devices about 4 years ago. So based on nothing more than reading these forums, I wonder if we’re seeing hubs being overtaxed now that more processing is done on the hub itself. If so it might show up most on V3 hubs.
I just want to thank the community here for building out alterative drivers. My lights are working faster than ever!
