Frient smoke detector appearance in Smartthings

I’m new to use Smartthings, and wonder if the color of the icons for smokedetectprs should be grey, instead of white. Do they only turn white when they have an active firealarm?

And one more question… Do they connect to each other automatically, or is it something that needs to be done from my side?

I would be worried if they appeared different…

Do they connect to each other automatically, or is it something that needs to be done from my side?

Check out the SmartThings Home Monitor, where you can add your sensors and define actions. One action could be activation of all available sirens if smoke is detected (or a water leak or intrusion).

This setting is kind of hard to find:

Just activate the STHM in the app and you’ll figure it out.

Thank you very much the info👍🏻. I will look into this in a bit.

The STHM is one of my favorite features of ST. It’s very powerful, so click through the whole thing.

To answer your original question: the frient smoke detectors don’t bind automatically.

I will👍🏻.

I think I figured it out. I made a few more routines.

If any of…
Then all…

But anyway: STHM is the way to go. No routines needed.

Thanks again :+1:t2:

Have you installed the drivers from frient?

Yes. The driver I should use for Frient smoke detectors.

Zigbee smoke detectors do not bind to each other like those non-smart interconnecting smoke detectors would. They all report to your smart home setup independently.

That said, you don’t actually need to make a Routine to trigger all the sirens when one of the detectors goes off. SmartThings Home’s “Smoke Detection” feature lets you do that in the “Reactions to Activity” page, “Sirens” section, where you configure it to fire all the sirens.
