Firmware update Wednesday

The general theme here seems to be email support@smartthings.com

That’s how they track issues. I’m sure that they have a bunch of people hired to look into those issues, and you can’t expect them to browse the community forum all day long to identify for one.

Agreed 100%. My quote was messed up. I meant to reply to Mark323 advising him to contact Support. These are Community forums, not Support forums.

So I can just email support and request an upgrade?

Since I started this thread I guess I’ll share my experience on the firmware update.

Mine completed some time Thursday night after support did some magic. The only issue I noticed were some events triggered by motion were not timing out. For example, lights turned on by motion sensors were not shutting off. This continued for about 8 hours. I recycled the power on the hub and everything seems fine now.

Support indicated ā€œwe may push out a slightly modified update in the next few daysā€ so they must have found something else they want to fix.

I tried a z-wave repair and it still seemed to take a long time, but I did not notice any ā€œrandomā€ failures or crashes during the repair. I haven’t found time to attempt another.

So, in summary, the world hasn’t ended nor is this the answer to all our prayers. Your experience may be different.

That’s exactly right. We have a team of support agents, support engineers, quality assurance analysts, quality assurance engineers and techops engineers who all troubleshoot and investigate issues like what you guys have been reporting over the past 48 hours.

When people post on the forums it’s certainly a signal for us to investigate what may be happening, but ultimately it’s support tickets that are going to get attention as that’s the channel for support and troubleshooting.

Back to the firmware update. We paused the staged roll outs, but not because of a bug. I don’t have the technical details yet but we’ll resume the updates shortly.

If you’re dying for a firmware update just email us. If you’re on a 12.x or 13.x branch you can consider yourself ā€œup to dateā€.

Hi Tyler
I’m on 000.011.00603
Can you update mine
Thanks
Nagui Anis

Nagui, your best bet is to email…

Thanks Brad, who should I email?

support@smartthings.com

Interesting. I didn’t get any email notification at all. Last time I requested support to remote update to this version:

Firmware Version: 000.011.00705
zigbeeFirmware: 1.5.4

Hmmm…

Seems like there may be an issue with firmware 000.012.00074 and Fibaro pairing:

@wackware posted that and it’s his Happy Nappy Day! So not going to bug him today. Let him be one day old at least.

Three of my sexy things are just showing motion, stuck at vibration mode, temperature stuck at 80, 72 and 70 for some reason, no lux or battery value which may have dropped to half its level) after million and one attempts last night.

The previous two which were paired pre firmware update works superb.

Just got this e-mail:

Last week, we sent you a note letting you know that we were going to update your Hub’s firmware. Shortly after the update, we uncovered a small issue and would like to quickly update to your Hub again.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but this latest update should take less than five minutes to complete. Your Hub is scheduled to be updated today between 6pm PT and 7pm PT. During the update, your Hub will briefly go offline, but it will quickly be back in action with our latest and most advanced firmware version.

For those of you looking for the details of the update, here’s what’s what:

Changes to Firmware

o Enhanced Cloud Link Security
o All server communication now uses the binary protocol. This improves efficiency and lowers bandwidth use.
o Support for generically reading ZigBee client attributes
o Fixed bug that continued to poll Z-Wave switches after they were deleted
o Fixed bug that caused some battery powered devices to be over-polled
o Fixed bug that interfered with adding Z-Wave devices with long command support lists
o Added Z-Wave ā€œreplace failed deviceā€ feature
o Improved reliability of Z-Wave network repair

I noticed the following feature seems to be deleted from previous release notes:

Added real time with timezone, based on the Location so the hub can provide the ZigBee time cluster

It was removed from the list of changes because it’s only one piece of the puzzle for devices like the Orbit valve. We didn’t want people to see that change and assume they could pair these devices now. There’s one other change we need to make to the ZigBee firmware.

@beckwith My firmware is 000.013.00005 and it has the Fibaro pairing issue.

That explains why my Orbit valve didn’t’ work.

@smart so you have the latest? Did you attempt the usual such as reboot hub, Z-Wave repair, etc.?

@Tyler does this firmware update address the Fibaro pairing issue @wackware reported?

reboot million times… z-wave repair - no… Will check one last time and wait for @wackware tomorrow. .
