Yes you can…Go to “My Location”, then click edit!
Aah! Got it. Edit Location -> mode dropdown -> update ???
Darn, I never noticed that!
Thanks just did it…still not able to control anything as all presence sensors are not present. Perhaps I should create a simulated presence sensor? I am desperate to fix this!
What are you using currently as presence?
You could always disable that by taking the presence sensors out of the routine.
Just program your way back into the system.
Plus, manually triggering the devices in the app will override the routines anyway.

Ok, I have to ask…
-
what exactly are you trying to do?
-
have you actually tried changing the status of any devices manually?
You do not have to be in the same house as the hub to control anything.
Yes, that is the problem. I am trying to control my lights remotely and am unable to talk to ANY device at home. This is what I have been attempting to do for 6 days, None of the devices can be controlled. This problem cropped up when the new firmware update came in. I basically lost all control of devices I think when the hub switched to away mode, i lost all cloud control. Other users have had this issue (look at previous posts in the thread). We are all trying to gain back control of our devices. I am trying to change modes or the presence of sensors to see if I can gain back control…this has not happened
I even have a remote switch to reboot the hub (no batteries in it) and have rebooted various times. This has not helped either. ST said this was a bug and they are fixing it, ST status shows all fixed…however I still have the issues.
I repeatedly send smartthings emails to resolve but haven’t heard from them in 3 days.
Thanks
So in this case you don’t really need your presence sensors to work to gain manual control of your devices (on your phone). And changing modes won’t help you. Have you tried rebooting your hub from the IDE? Sorry if you already answered this…If that didn’t work, you’re really stuck as you will need to hard reboot your hub IF your devices didn’t drop off…Less likely if your lights are z-wave, highly likely if they are zigbee…
The ide reboot does not work. As I mentioned I am able to do a remote HARD reboot with a wifi switch (not connected to ST) This hasn’t helped either. All my devices are zwave. The hub is essentially a monitoring system right now. No ability to control, change, configure it etc.
When you reboot via the switch, how long are you leaving it off? I recommend giving it about an hour, then reboot.
Sorry, man. That’s just awful…
Interesting why an hour? I give it about 5 minutes…
Sometimes more is better…
The zigbee devices take around 15 minutes before they freak out and rebuild the mesh network… Not sure about the zwave devices.
But at this point, it won’t hurt.
At this point I am consdiering switching out the hub when I get back. Is there an easy method to re-register all the devices or is that going to be a pain?
I hate to be “that guy”, but could we get back to the topic at hand? Please create a separate thread if you don’t have a comment about something regarding the 14.13 firmware update.
You beat me to it. ![]()
Well you guys sound wise and focused. So maybe take the time to answer some pointed questions. Essentially my problems have cropped up since the Firmware update. So lets get back to when @slagle you plan to fix these issues so my hub will work again? Is your update bulletproof with no exisiting issues like your status site says?
Smartthings seems to be giving incorrect reports on operatability while there are users out there like me who are unable to use the hub since the update. ST confirmed with me that the problem was on their side due to the firmware update and were fixing it. What gives?
So Tim, what you guys doing to fix the firmware update? Its easy to tell frustrated users what rules to live by , but rather than focusing on that, why dont u fix the issues?. What are you doing to eliminate my problem and others who are facing similar issues. Are you providing us with methods to make things work? I see a lot of discussion as workarounds to problems you guys at ST created through the update, so you and justintime cannot fault folks for being frustrated and trying to solve our issues, as no inputs have been coming from ST.
If you want to be more focused thread, perhaps provide updates and answers to users questions on the issues at hand? and oh btw fix your firmware update!
And also When are you guys going to send timely responses in your email? I have not recieved an update for 4 days via email despite my repeated requests. Your chat lines are down. Great going.
I am a believer in ST, but this firmware update and the treatment by ST support have been making a non beleiver out of me.
There i used firmware at least three times in my rant…
Well I am out of the house…tying to control remote. Created a simulated presence sensor in IDE, but does not seem to be working as of yet. Lets see if I can mess with the modes/presence sensors to gain back control…
We are always working on firmware updates. This isn’t just something we change a line of code and push it out. Firmware updates are tricky and need time to be vetted. These issues seen were not seen during our QA and are edge cases. We will produce a new firmware update and push that when it is ready.
Until then support is your best bet, there are some things they can do to get you back up and running. I appreciate your post and thank you for your patience.
