I have got webCoRE running locally on a RPi to use with Hubitat. Works well.
I’m just miffed that I was forced to migrate when I logged in to use the app. There was no choice. Now I cannot control anything that I still have connected to ST. I cannot go back I am stuck in limbo.
The simple thing would be for me to reset my ST hub and start again using the new app etc. EDIT: Unfortunately I cannot even do this as I have no access to the hub.
As I have to do that, then I may as well use my Hubitat hub.
I have now connected most things to my HE hub and have copied across most of my webCoRE rules, so I have the essentials running OK.
I have enjoyed, for the most part, my ST experience but local processing is the big selling point for me and if I am using webCoRE on ST, that is not an option.
It’s all good man. If it works for you great. I’m just saying not to expect your HE ride to be trouble free either, and that you should swap because you want it not because you can’t figure out the Samsung login. Glad you got WebCore running on HE. I need to do this too someday so I may come seeking your help.
yeah this is pretty awesome… Not really knowing about this changeover , a week or two back i think I couldnt login for some reason… thought I had heard something about a new app so I got it… logged in (i guess this is called samsung smart things connect?) and my devices appeared, great - and my routines seemed to run so thought all was well. Well last night I ordered in a couple new devices I want to add on to automate my home while on vacation which starts friday night basically. I now found out two outlets dont work, none of my routines actually show up and a new device connects and shows up in the devices but if I click on it i get an error that device cant connect or something. not the end of the world if I had to re-do all routines and reconnect all devices but I cant even connect new devices - or at least this inovelli plug? Tried logging in using my old samsung galaxy S4 that I wanted to leave around the house so house sitters could operate certain lights etc… but I cant even log in now on that app - it thinks I have an invalid username/password… Will I somehow need to delete my samsung account and factory reset the hub or something? waiting on a response from samsung support…
Try logging in as a new user on the Classic app
yeah so ive tried clicking ‘New to smartthings’ . The next screen says something like "continue with (my email) || Applicable Service : SmartThings( Non Samsung Android ) - so I hit agree and it takes me to ‘My Home’ within the app but just shows my phone as being present along with my Samsung TV that is connected to wifi. All devices and routines are gone. I did click the 3 horizontal bars, then the gear icon, and changed my location (it thought i was in San Jose but I live in Kansas City). Still no luck. now killed two nights working on this … I guess I need to call phone support but I feel like my work schedule conflicts with their support hours - ugh. need to get this going by tomorrow night…
What do you see at https://account.SmartThings.com > My Locations?
Do you have a choice of login Samsung Account vs SmartThings Account
Do you see One Location or Two?
(I don’t trust the App … I have more faith on the IDE website.)
its got 3 locations, when digging into one I see ALL my devices . I think it logs me in via “samsung” account. didnt realize there was a difference I guess. Wonder if I can somehow delete these other two ’ home’ locations and maybe resolve the issue… I’m guessing the classic app created a second location… then maybe when playing with my old phone it somehow created a third location…
Ok so within the classic app the two locations that appear when clicking the 3 horizontal bars in the top left are the two locations with no devices tied to them. Within the NEW app and in the devices screen I do see all 3 locations and when selecting the proper one , i see all devices. definitely on to something here…
not sure exactly what I did - i think in the smart things IDE site or what ever it is called I figured out which one had all my devices and renamed that as Home_Working. Changed it to the default location but at that point it still didn’t work. I then went over to the NEW app and within the devices I selected the location drop down menu and got to the location that worked. I then edited it to match the name I created online, ‘Home_Working’ then went back to the classic app and was able to select it and everything loaded. Again not sure of my exact steps but playing around with the locations is what did it. So glad I can finally get back to working on this - what I was trying to do two nights ago
The “name” shouldn’t matter … everything is referenced by unique internal “Location ID”.
But one of the Locations has a “default” flag option - so I’ve heard. And this may be important to one or both Apps.
ahh makes sense. well at least renaming it helped me to figure out which one had all the devices associated with it. I was pretty worried there for a while. I have a few things running on that webCORE which took forever to figure out and get setup , dont want to lose those ‘pistons’ or whatever. I can sleep easy tonight thanks for the guidance.
That’s a very good tip!
Absolutely you have a choice. You are NOT forced to migrate. Simply ignore the pop up and continue to happily use the Classic app. I’m doing exactly this on my iPhone with zero problems.
I got the message and was then redirected to open a new Samsung account. There was no choice.
It’s too late now anyway. Everything has gone so I migrated everything to Hubitat and I must say it is noticeable that things trigger quicker.
Wish I had done it sooner.
I got the same message. I ignored it. Everything working as it always has.
I am using SmartThings V2. When on local Wi-Fi the delay between my iPhone and the switch being controlled is about 1/4 of a second. With the cellular data, the delay is about 1/2 a second.
