EVE SmartPlug Turns off Randomly

I recently purchased and added 7 EVE smartplugs that have the matter integration. I’m in the US and use the ST Hub V 3. For some of these, I am using them only to collect energy/power data and thus have no routines attached to them. One of the 7, which monitors my microwave power, appears to turn itself off randomly. I do not use Alexa and have not set up any routines/scenes/smart lighting related to this particular device. The other 6 devices have not shown this issue. I can manually or using ST to turn it back on without any issues. Any ideas?

do you use any other platforms, i.e. Apple Home or Google Home?

Does it turn itself off randomly or does it turn itself off shortly after the microwave has been turned on?

Although it is rated in the US for up to 1800 W, microwaves do tend to have a very strong input rush when they start up, and it may just be that the fuse is tripping.

You could test that just by swapping that particular Eve with one in a different location. If the one that the microwave is plugged into has the same issue and the one that was swapped to a different location no longer does, the microwave is probably just too much for them to handle.

I’ve got google. Nothing is set up to control it, but it does show up in google.

Interesting theory. I’ve not tracked it to know (it hasn’t happened to me) but will try to track it next time. It doesn’t happen often (twice in ~2 months). and the sustained reported power is about 1,600 W when on, so it is plausible the inrush is causing issues. But if it is tripping, it still can be turned on readily soon after. I know I don’t have issues with my dishwasher, which also has one of these, but the large load on the dishwasher is resistive not inductive. I looked on their website and there is nothing provided. The model ID on the plug just lists 15 A, with no restrictions. I’ve seen quite a few other devices that do restrict the power by load type, so just assumed that was not an issue on this one.

Your theory was confirmed by EVE support: on over current, the device shuts itself off. They then pointed me to the documentation: Support | evehome.com

This doesn’t happen often for me, but enough that I’ll probably move the device.
