Turn off Device Health if you haven’t already
Same thing is happening to me. Turning off “Device Health” helped a bit – devices at least respond occasionally – though in general, things are even flakier than the normal low bar that ST has set for reliability.
Does this happen to your zwave plus devices?
Have you done a zwave repair lately? Has it shown any failures (in the
idea)?
I’ve done a dozen z-wave repairs. Ended up removing and readding a few devices and the zwave repairs now come back clean, but I still have a outlet switch that still only responds sometimes. The whole SmartThings ecosystem is a house of poorly engineered cards.
Do you have zigbee devices on your network?
I picked up a few SmartThings smart plugs and put them around the house it increase my mesh.
Same issue here, no response from devices all showing unavailable, rebooted hub, turned off device health with no help. The app was updated recently wondering if that is the issue.
When running repairs getting FAILED TO UPDATE MESH INFO on the devices
to update this. I went around to all the battery operated devices and removed all power to them and also any “plugged” devices. No hardwired. I went around and one by one plugged them in. As soon as I replaced the batteries on my kwik set dead bolt and powered on that device started working. I then went back one by one and powered back on and cycled the power on and off while in the device on my app and they all started working normal now.
I had the same problem. Most of my devices showed “unavailable” from one day to the next. I’m thinking an update might have screwed things up. At first I removed them and reinstalled all of them (what a pain) to get them to work again. Then the next day, they again showed “unavailable”. So I googled it and follow someone’s advise to turn Device Health off. As soon as I did, all devices were again available. So turning Device Health off worked for me.
I had a Inovelli dual switch (great device) that was showing off line but it still works?
Turned off Device Health and no longer shows off line.
I had this issue and received this from Samsung: Dave S. (SmartThings)

Hey Jim,
Thanks for contacting SmartThings Support.
Sorry to hear you are seeing unavailable devices frequently! I know how concerning that can be.
Thankfully, I believe this to be an issue with Device Health and nothing wrong with your actual devices.
We are working on fixing an issue with Device Health where it will incorrectly mark devices as unavailable. For now, I recommend disabling Device Health and we’ll email you as soon as it is fixed.
If this does not resolve the issue please let me know!
Best Regards,

I’m also having this issue with one of my two inovelli switches. I have the 2nd one right next to the other in my 3 gang box that is working fine. The weird thing is the smart lighting automation to turn it on has been working (most of the time), however the automation to turn it off isn’t working. Turning off device health also hasn’t solved it.
FWIW, my Z-Wave Metering Switch (generic from Monoprice) is also reporting “Device is Unavailable”. I noticed that when my Z-Wave door lock went out of battery. I am not sure if this two events are related. I can still control the metering switch, but the “device is unavailable” message is annoying.
Long story short, no amount of Z-wave network repair would fix it. Before I force remove the device, I decided to hard reboot my Hub (v2) and it fixes the issue.
Well, looks like many people are experiencing this problem. I don’t think we need to add any more.
So, now we’ve identified the issue, what is the solution from SMARTTHINGS ?
