I found another problem since the 61.6 firmware update. My 2 Ikea GRILLPLATS matter over thread Plugs (Aux. Heat Kit Plug & Aux. Heat lr plug) at my Cabin location no longer have power or energy capabilities. They just disappeared. They had been reported power and energy since I bought them in May. They are both using the official Matter Switch driver.
I have 1 at my Home location that is still reporting power and energy.
At my Home Location I have 3 problem devices: Furnace H2O Sensor (leak), Condensate Pump Overflow ( leak), & Freezer Door (contact sensor). They are all Tuya, Battery Operated, Zigbee sensors. I also had 3 Tuya, battery powered Zigbee water sensors that I moved to a Tuya hub several months ago because they keep doing the same thing (going on and off several times a day).
All other devices included numerous Tuya, battery operated, Zigbee sensor are behaving.
I am currently at the Home location. I have rebooted the hub multiple times and I reset and re-added the 3 problem sensors, with no improvement.
-----------------------------
At my Cabin location I have several problem devices.
Sink light a 4 gang Tuya, no neutral, switch that has been constantly offline since Friday’s update.. I am hoping a simple flip the breaker will fix it, but I am not on site to test
Guest Room Motion an older Ikea, battery powered, zigbee motion sensor (Tradfri). It goes on and off line regularly. This is not a new problem.
3 & 4) Aux. Heat Kit. Plug & Aux LR Plug. These are both Ikea, matter over thread plugs (Grillplats). Before Friday’s update they both reported Power and Energy. After Friday’s update these capabilities totally disappear from both the mobile app and AWA. The strange thing is I have a Grillplats plug at my Home location (Dana’s TV Plug) that still reports power and energy.
All other devices included numerous Tuya, battery operated, Zigbee sensor are behaving.
FYI: 4 devices (Heat tape plug, Bathroom heat, Dining Rm Heater & Living Rm heater) are powered off for the summer and not part of this problem.
I am not currently at the Cabin location so testing has been limited to remotely rebooting the hub a couple times. I should be there later this week to do some testing.
All affected Zigbee devices at both locations are using @Mariano_Colmenarejo 's drivers. The Grillprats are using the stock Matter Switch driver.
We’ve received some feedback from the team regarding this issue.
The team recommends trying the following:
Switch the affected devices to a different driver (for example, a beta driver or another available driver) and then switch them back to the current driver. This should re-trigger the configuration logic and may restore the missing capabilities.
If that doesn’t work, as a last resort, factory reset the devices and add them back to SmartThings.
Also, please keep an eye on the hub named “2nd Floor Hub” when it receives the next firmware update. If you notice the same issue affecting “Dana’s TV Plug”, please submit the hub logs as soon as possible so we can investigate while the relevant logs are still available.
Changing the drivers on the 2 Grillplats plugs from Matter switch > Matter Playground > Matter switch seams to have fixed the 2 Grillplats plugs for the time being.
Any solutions for the Tuya battery powered Zigbee sensors?
If I was on site I would have tried that but I am not. If the driver change doesn’t result in a long-term solution I will repair them later this week when I am on site.
We’d like to let you know that the online/offline behavior is already being investigated by the team and is currently being handled by @nayelyz based on reports from other users experiencing similar symptoms.
We’ll continue monitoring the findings from that investigation and will share any relevant updates as they become available.
@Itati The 2 Grillplate plugs at my Cabin location stopped reporting power and energy for a 2nd time at 5:40 AM EDST on Jun 20. The stock Matter Switch driver that I was using was also updated on 6/29 and may have caused this problem. They are both connected to a v2 hub with firmware 61.6.
My 3rd Grillplate at My Home location which is connected to an ST Station plug with the older 60.13 firmware was not affected.
A switch from the stock Matter Switch driver to @mocelet’s Matter Playground driver and back to the stock driver fixed the problem.
@mocelet one of the Grillplate plugs shows very weird voltage readings 119 volts (normal for US) when turned on and 1 to 5 volts when turned off when connected to your driver. The 2nd one reads 120 volts when is turned on and when it is turned off.
Probably an issue with that unit or a firmware glitch, at the moment there are no firmware updates available at Matter DCL. I have the European ones and they report the expected voltage regardless of the on/off state, which is around 230-240 volts.
We’re glad to hear that changing the driver again resolved the issue.
If the issue happens again, we’d appreciate your help by submitting the hub logs and noting the exact timestamp when it occurs. This information is essential for the team to investigate the root cause.
If the logs were not collected this time, they have most likely already rolled off, so we’ll need to wait until the issue occurs again to capture the necessary information.
