Hub Firmware and Edge Driver Release Notes - 0.61.6

We will begin rolling out Samsung SmartThings Hub firmware version 0.61.6 starting on June 15, 2026. This will be a phased rollout, so that we can keep a close eye on any issues that arise, so your hub may not be updated immediately. Once downloaded, your Hub will briefly go offline as it reboots and applies the update; most customers will experience less than one minute of downtime. We will update the status page when the release is complete.

Hub Target

  • Samsung SmartThings Hub 2015 (Hub v2)
  • Samsung SmartThings Hub 2018 (Hub v3)
  • Aeotec Smart Home Hub
  • Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2
  • ThingsOne Smart Home Hub

Release Period: June 15th, 2026 ~ June 22nd, 2026

Note that this release will be spread out over the course of a week, so you may not see your Hub update on the first day of the release period. This release period is an estimate, so the rate of hubs updated and final completion date may vary slightly within the timeframe. Please check the status page for more up to date information on this release.

Release Notes

Hub Firmware

  • Improved Device Health Algorithm for Zigbee Devices

    • Zigbee device online/offline status will now be determined more accurately based on each device’s reported communication interval.
    • This feature will be rolled out gradually after the release is complete. Once enabled, Users should see a more accurate representation of their Zigbee device status. The new mechanism inspects each device’s configured reporting interval to determine how long to wait before considering the device offline.
    • As part of this improvement, Button and Remote devices will now be individually tracked. Previously, these devices could appear online as long as the Hub’s Zigbee network was functional.
  • Improved reconnection time for Matter devices following power cycling or battery replacement

  • Various bug fixes and optimizations

Edge Drivers

  • Matter 1.5 Device Type Support

    • Closures support added to matter-window-covering driver

    • Soil Sensor support added to matter-sensor driver

    • Irrigation System support added to matter-switch driver

  • Latency Improvements for Knob-controlled bulbs

  • Allow Zigbee and Hue lights to be controlled by Knobs

Just came home from work to find all of my local (Zigbee & Zwave) devices and hub offline with light a solid blue. Mobile app notification reports that hub went offline at 1:25PM EST, which is more than two and half hours ago. V3 (2018) hub firmware version is 000.060.00012. Performed normal routine of disconnect/reconnect hub power, restart modem and router did not help. What is it this time?

since you posted in the 61.x firmware thread… did you login to the Advanced Web App to verify if it shows your hub updated to 61.x?

I posted in this thread because I believe that my hub tried to update its firmware but did not successfully complete. Yes, I’ve checked the Web Dashboard but everything is blank (no idea if that’s normal, or not).

The hub’s Raw JSON reports the same firmware version as the mobile app: “firmwareVersion”: “000.060.00012”.

That’s the wrong page. Check here for more details: https://my.smartthings.com/advanced/hubs.

That page reports the same version - 000.060.00012.

  1. The email address is the same for both.
  2. Done.

Got up yesterday morning to find the majority of my zigbee light switches offline. Turned Smartthings hub v3 off and on, same result. Turned the light circuit off and on and the switches worked manually then froze again.

Restarted Modem, did not help.

Logged on to advanced web app and can confirm Hub is running 0.61.6

Is there an issue with the firmware upgrade.

Thanks.

Two of my v2 hub updated to 61.6 earlier today and now I have about 10 zigbee devices offline. They are mostly Tuya battery powered sensors (temperature/humidity, leak, contacts and motion) using @Mariano_Colmenarejo’s drivers. Rebooting the hubs has not helped. Some of the devices have come back online only to go offline again.

Three of them are temperature and humidity sensors with child thermostats used for heating, so I can’t switch to a different driver without loosing the thermostat capabilities. Fortunately it summer and there is time to find a solution.

I thought v61.6 was supposed to minimize Zigbee offline problems, not create them.
