I have a Centralite 3328-C temperature sensor to monitor the temperature in my home when we go away for the winter. The internet apparently went out at my house and all my devices but this one came back online when the internet came back. Is there a way to remotely reset this? Everything I read requires a manual reset which is useless while away.
Replace it with a device from a different brand. If a device doesn’t behave, I just get a different one. Depending on your hub, maybe an IKEA VINDSTYRA or an IKEA ALPSTUGA?
Unfortunately I’m not home so I can’t replace it or manually reset it. I was hoping there was a way to reset it through the ST app.
You can try rebooting the hub through AWA to see if that restores communication with the devices.
Hi @Thelma_Dibble, don’t delete/replace anything and don’t reset your hub. If the device has really failed should you replace it, and all you may need to do is reboot the hub if/when your internet service comes back up.
Do you know if you lost power as well at one point?
It’s been a couple hours since your original post, so has the device come back online?
Sometimes Zigbee devices like that will not show up as online until it reports a temperature change, or a change in battery level. We also have a second location, and this happens every so often whenever there’s an ISP or power issue at that location, and sometimes this can happen if the battery level is really low.
You can try rebooting your hub via the ST advanced web app:
https://my.smartthings.com/advanced
Have you used that site/service before?
If not, navigate to your hub, select it, and then click on the Reboot button:
If all else fails, then unfortunately someone may have to visit that location and just remove and replace the battery to wake it up, or to put in a new battery. We’ve gotten into the habit of replacing batteries on many devices with any low value before we leave that location. I don’t trust ST’s battery reporting too much, so I take a cautionary approach before leaving.
