Can't choose right driver

I have an Aeotec Smart Switch 7. It was giving me problems so removed and re-added it to my hub. It seems to have paired, but the hub is using the generic driver (Z-Wave switch). When I go to change the drive, the Aeotec Smart Switch 7 US driver isn’t an option… The driver group is installed and all of my other smart switch 7’s are running.

I’ve gone to the smartthings advanced page and still can’t select the driver.

Any idea how to get the driver loaded?

Thanks in advance.

Presumably, you’ve installed the Aeotec driver from the vendor’s page Aeotec Edge Drivers : Aeotec Help Desk

Did you exclude the device by putting your hub in exclusion mode and the device in pairing mode? Did you factory reset the device? What is the fingerprint (model/mfg) of the device on the Advanced Web App? How did you re-install the device; “Search Nearby” or “Partner Devices”->“Aeotec”?

Thanks for getting back to me!

This is the driver group I loaded (it’s working for the other Aeotec Smart Switch 7’s on my network) - i think it’s the right one, yes?

  • I did not put the hub into exclusion mode
  • I did factory reset the device
  • The oddball device is showing up with a device name of “switch-level” and a model of “0000-0000”; working devices (that are the same model) all have a device name of “metering-switch” with a model of “0103-0017”
  • to re-install the device i used to option to scan the QR code

it’s seeming like the hub can’t properly identify the model?

The reason i removed and reset the device in the first place was because it was really laggy and intermittently didn’t accept on/off requests. I had it on the aeotec driver for a few weeks and i kept getting a message that the device hadn’t reported all of it’s information (i don’t recall the exact phrasing, but to me it was saying that the device hadn’t fully synced). Powercycling the device (actually unplugging the switch) didn’t have any effect, so i figured i’d wipe and reload it.

There is a specific driver for each of the different Aeotec devices. You check out their channel and drivers at the link I posted previously.

Ah, the dreaded all zeros fingerprint. That means that the device did not pair properly with the hub. You can read more about the reasons in this topic FAQ: Manufacturer/Model Shows All Zeroes

My suggestion is to put your hub in exclusion mode either from the ST app or from the AWA and then put your device in pairing mode and verify that the hub says it is deleted. Then I would factory reset the device and try adding it again. If the during the pairing process you are asked for the DSK (Device Specific Key), do not bypass providing it. It should be highlighted with the QR code on the device or a label on the box/manual.

Since the device doesn’t have a proper fingerprint, the app/AWA won’t let you change to the correct driver because the fingerprint doesn’t match what the driver supports.

I just wanted to say that this worked!

I removed the device, by following the removal steps (something i didn’t do the first time), then re-added it. When I re-added it, it automatically picked the right Aeotec driver.

Thank you for your help!!
