Can't add SmartThings to Home Assistant

Recently, I tried to log into SharpTools with SmartThings, but I got a “Function unavailable. Your account doesn’t provide support for this function” error. I thought it was just an issue with SharpTools, but when I tried to add my SmartThings devices to Home Assistant, I got the exact same error. Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a way to fix it?

just to verify… you are referencing the login at SharpTools where you get the error? Have you reached out to SharpTools Support since they manage that login?

are you able to login to https://account.samsung.com or https://my.smartthings.com

and reach out to support in the app by tapping on Menu > Contact us

I can log in to my Samsung account, but their support team got me nowhere. I got the error at both SharpTools and Home Assistant, but I didn’t contact SharpTools because I realized I had to pay for what I wanted to accomplish on it.

Hi, @scriptjs
I think I know what error you’re referring to, is it this one?

Someone reported getting that message as well, after investigating we saw his Samsung account was registered as underage. Some features, like linking OAuth integrations, are restricted for accounts under 18 years old, as outlined in Samsung’s Terms and Conditions. You can take a look at them here: Terms&conditions

Yep, that’s it. I had a feeling it had something to do with my age, but I was kind of in denial about it. Is there a specific reason this restriction is in place?

Sorry, I don’t have more information about that. You need to contact SmartThings Customer Support in that case.
We were thinking that maybe adding someone older to your location could help you authorize an OAuth Integration from that account and have the same benefits in yours since it should be done only once for the authorization, but it’s just a theory.

Ok, thanks anyway
