Can’t Pair Level Lock+

Hey all - I have been out of the game for a minute and recently bought a new house and am slowly rebuilding devices. I have a Samsung smart tv that supports matter and have successfully paired the lock with the level app but for the life of me I can’t get ST to see the lock. Anyone have success in doing this or suggestions to make this happen?

That lock uses either Bluetooth or thread. There’s no brand-specific integration for level locks.

Are you trying to use Matter over Thread? If so, see the community FAQ on what you need:

FAQ: What do I need to add a Matter device to the SmartThings app? Do I need a bridge router device?

Thanks for the suggestions…my router is set to auto deploy IPv6 addresses, my smart tv is acting as the controller and I have an iPhone with the ST app working as the commissioner. I have rebooted the TV, the router, the lock and my phone several times, I am connecting (or attempting to) within 15 minutes of the chime after reboot and still the image below is what I’m getting.

Based on your response and referenced post, I have everything I need and have checked all the break points. I’m stumped. This is the first matter device I have used and let me tell you I long for the ZWave/zigbee days of old.

You need a thread border router.

Why is that? Why wouldn’t the TV act as one?

Not all Samsung TVs have Thread built into the TV. Some require a dongle to support it. Would help to know the TV model. You can also see if the TV supports Thread on the AWA.

The list:

QN990F, QN950F, QN90F, S95F, QN90F, S90F, QN85F, S85F, QN80F, QN70F, Q8F,LS03F(The Frame), QN900D, QN850D, QN800D, QN95D, S95D, QN90D, S90D, QN85D, S85D, QN80D, Q80D, Q70D, Q60D, 32Q60D, DU900*, 85DU8000, LS01D (The Serif), LS03D(The Frame), QN900C, QN800C, QN95C, S95C, S90C, QN90C, QN85C, Q80C, Q70C, Q60C, 32Q60C

You all are the best. So I have a QN80D that clearly says it supports matter devices but I guess not. So here is my next question, does it make more sense to get an Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 over and Aqara Smart Home Hub M3? Or will either work? Any pros of one over the other?

If you don’t have Z-Wave devices, the Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 is the best choice.

How’s your TV connected? WiFi or Ethernet? If you haven’t already, connect it via Ethernet to your Internet router.

I do have ZWave device that are not in use but I would love to add them at some point but if I can’t, no biggie. Either way I think on what you are saying is that both will work, or no?

Hard wiring the TV is not possible so it’s on wifi. :frowning:

The so-called V3 and the V4 will work - V3 has Z-Wave.

As the community FAQ explains, there are three different kinds of matter devices. There is matter over Wi-Fi, which it sounds likely that your TV does support.

then there is matter over thread, which your TV can handle in one sense but you need some other device that has a thread radio in it in order to pick up the signals. There are many different devices which can act as a thread border router, including most of the smart speakers. So several Google home models, several Amazon echo models, apple’s HomePod mini, are all thread border routers. There are even a couple of smart plugs that can act as thread border routers.

Your TV can handle matter, but it can’t hear the thread signals so you just need to have a device which can and can also talk to Wi-Fi. That’s what a thread border router is.

If you want to get another hub, you can, but it’s not what you need to be able to use your level lock.

So I have an Echo Show 8 which has matter but it is not pairing. I am assuming because I used the set up code to add the lock to Apple Home to be able to use my phone as a key. I have reached out to Level support to see if they can issue a new code. :crossed_fingers:t3: Thanks for assisting in figuring this out. You all rock! :sign_of_the_horns:t3:

So which apple hub/tbr do you have?

Apple HomePod 2nd-gen (*also Thread border router)

Apple HomePod Mini (*also Thread border router)

Apple TV 4K 2022 128GB (*also Thread border router)

Apple TV 4K 2021 (*also Thread border router)

I don’t, as I mentioned, I just added it to Apple Home to be able to use my iPhone as a key. I’m trying to use the Echo Show 8 as the thread border router.

The set up code for the native integration to Apple home should be different than the one for matter, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

However, if you added it to Apple home without using the matter option, you added it via Bluetooth, and I don’t know if you can still use thread after that. But level support should be able to tell you.

Am I missing something? It was in that list of TVs that have hubs with Zigbee and Thread radios built in.

I’m with you…I’m struggling with buying a hub since I can’t pair the lock to Alexa or ST and my tv is supposed to be a matter hub. I’m wondering if the issue is the locks integrating with matter even though they are supposed to be equipped. So far, none of the suggestions Level has made have worked. I have two other locks to try but also hesitant to open them based on this experience.
