Okay, for expeditiousness I grabbed an Aqara M100 hub. Set it up in the Aqara app as well as added it to both HomeKit and ST. The hub shows online in both the ST app and HomeKit. What is stumping me now is I have no idea how to get the lock to actually use it as a bridge. The lock is just constantly offline in ST or unavailable in HomeKit. What is the step I’m missing?
The lock isn’t going to use it as a bridge because the lock has native matter over thread capability. It could use it as a thread border router and that might help if the problem is that the level lock is out of range without it.
put the aqara hub physically about halfway between the level lock and your next thread border router. Then go into the level app and see if you can get the lock to use the Aqara’s thread network.
I appreciate the assist but the Level app does not display the lock’s specific network connectivity (Bluetooth vs. Thread/Matter). When I go into ST, I see the hub and it says there are no connected devices. I am just wondering the purpose of the hub if I can’t get the lock to connect to it. Or maybe it is and I just can’t verify it. 
And since the lock is constantly going offline, I have to assume it isn’t connected to the aqara hub.
