Arlo Cameras In Scenes, Automations, Help please

I don’t have any suggestions about your Automation, but I have a different way I’m monitoring the Arlo Cameras via SmartThings. I use a Device Monitor SmartApp set to 6 hours since that’s what the SmartThings engineer advised when the new Schema for SmartThings Arlo integration performs it’s ‘health check’. The idea with using the Device Monitor SmartApp is that as long as the Arlo Cameras are reporting something at least every 6 hours (like the health check), then the Device Monitor SmartApp is happy and doesn’t trigger any notification, otherwise it triggers a notification that the Arlo Camera devices have not reported.

So far, it’s worked both times the Arlo integration with SmartThings has went down and sent me a notification that the Arlo Cameras were not reporting. And when I looked both times, I saw that all the Arlo Cameras were showing offline in SmartThings so I had to refresh the Arlo linked service to get them back online with SmartThings.

I’m pretty sure it would work the other way around if something happened on the Arlo side of things since the SmartThings engineer said during the health check it looks at the battery level, and it can’t do that unless the Camera is online in Arlo’s ecosystem.

New SmartThings Schema Integration for Arlo

Ok, it seems that most of the SmartThings/Arlo integration features that I use are available in the new Schema. On/Off Privacy Mode: Check Motion Detection: Check Record Triggering: Check In the current Arlo Connect Schema, record triggering is only available natively in the STHM and wasn’t available in Automations. If I’m reading all of your responses correctly, then I’d like to thank you for making record triggering available in Automations and Scenes the new Schema. Sound Detection: It is being looked at it for integration at a later time. That leaves a few features that I haven’t mentioned yet. In the new Schema, can I still put the Arlo cameras in SmartThings Camera Groups where all four cameras appear in a grid ‘and live stream automatically’ when opening the camera group? Is…

New SmartThings Schema Integration for Arlo

Yes, currently in Android the camera groups work well with 4 cameras at once in a group. In IOS, we have an issue with camera groups not working but we already have a fix ready with the next app release which is occurring this month. The exact date is TBD as it goes through Apple approval etc. We also have stability improvements with the live streaming occurring in the upcoming release of the ST app for Android and IOS. Yes, the cameras will get the battery events consistently. Every 6 hours, the battery state will be updated if there is an update required. Low battery notification should successfully be triggered for cams when automation for it is sent in ST. Please keep us posted if you see any anomalies.
