Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 failure to add

Hey all!

I have been trying to add Aqara Motion and light sensor P2 To a version 3 Samsung smart things hub that supports matter and threading. It goes through the process, but when it tries to register with iCloud, it fails. Does anybody have any insight?

Much appreciated for this noob!

What do you mean?

It’s something the app does when trying to add that product. Registers with Apple iCloud.

Uses the iPhone keychain and iCloud to store Thread keys.

Have you commissioned the device with any other app yet?

I did after it failing with Smart Things pair it to the home app and it didn’t have any issues, it’s only with the smart things app and v3 hub.

I have 4 Apple TV’s.

Force quit the app and try again.

Have you tried a new QR code generated from the Home app with ST?

I have several times.

Not sure what you mean by this. I used the QR code (Matter code) that is associated with the device. I even manually entered it to try it.

Am I missing something?

iPhone is on the 2.4 ghz wifi? hopefuly if ST hub is on wifi… they are both on same?

You can use Matter multi-admin. You use the original QR code the first time you commission the device. After that, to commission in another ecosystem, the Matter commissioning app should offer the ability to link the device with another ecosystem or offer the ability to generate a new QR code to use with another ecosystem.

Hey all, so I figured it out. It turns out the phone that I’m using the SmartThings app on is running iOS 18, beta 9. And apparently there’s an issue with this. I grabbed another phone logged in and Set it up on a non beta version of iOS 17 using the same Apple ID and it worked just fine. So it’s an iOS 18 beta issue.

The good news is after it was added, and I opened up the app on my iOS 18 beta nine phone and the accessory showed on the dashboard.

Thank you so much for all the support!

i use iOS 18 beta and it works fine. added a couple of devices yesterday. the one change I made is to set up an apple tv as the default hub. when it jumped over to my homepod mini… everything would get wonky so I enjoy the new ability to set the default hub in iOS18.

are all your apple tvs updated to iOS 18 beta? perhaps if one isn’t and it is being automatically selected as the managing hub at the time???

I am running the beta on my phone, my iPad Pro, and my MacBook Pro, but not on any of my Apple TVs. Potentially if I had to join the beta on the TVs, it would work.

Also just realized I said beta 9 - I am running beta 8 - iOS 18.0 (22A5350a). :-/
