Alexa, Honewell, and permanent hold?

I have a Honeywell Wifi Thermostat RTH-9580 connected to Smartthings using the official TCC.

i also recently have smartthings connected to Amazon Echo Dot.

I just figured out tomake Alexa work to do temp changes, you have to set your thermostat to Cool or Heat, not Auto changeover. Is there any way around this?

When I did sset it to Cool and got Alexa to change the temp by saying…Alexa, set Master Bedroom Thermostat to 75 degrees, it does set it at 75 degrees but it puts it in a permament hold. Is there a way to make it set it on a temporary hold?

I just figured out it’s not an Alexa thing but a Smartthings issue.

That does sound like part of the native integration…it doesn’t handle heating/cooling/auto modes to well. I recommend Ask Alexa, and app I wrote (so why I recommend it :slight_smile:
