Is the limit going up ? This would be the best Christmas present.
3 posts were split to a new topic: Devices going offline after firmware update 59.8
This post has been updated to reflect just the Aeotec, ThingsOne, and Samsung SmartThings Hub 2018 (Hub v3) model release. For the Samsung SmartThings Hub 2015 (Hub v2) release details and conversation please see this post here.
For keen observers you may notice the V2 version is also now different that the hubs in this post. This is because the V2 update will also include a Lua Library change that is not part of the 59.8 release. For folks with hubs that have already updated to the 59.8 release, your hub will receive this Lua library update in the background over the next few weeks. This library update will help with some issues seen with a few community Edge drivers.
Who said itās a Zigbee-only device? Are you referring to the CSA site? Thatās just the database entry for the Zigbee certification of the device. Specs
Ok, my bad. Iāll see myself out.
When is the update for the SmartThings Station scheduled? I have two and they are still on version 58.xx.
thanks!
ST does not announce the firmware updates for the Station or any of the built-in hubs. They usually lag a few days/months behind the other stand-alone hubs. Since the V2 is not scheduled until January 2026, I imagine the Station and other built-in hubs will not get updated until then or later but only ST knows.
I have a few different hubs (Hub v2, Aeotec Hub, SmartThings Station) at different locations. I just noticed (was sick on the couch for several days) that none of my motion triggers were turning on lights on my Hub v2. The hub says everything is connected.
I power cycled the hub, leaving it off for about 15 mins, and when I reconnected it the SmartThings app (Android) showed a flurry of devices connecting. However, the hub does not show any updated data from devices nor can it send commands - z-wave nor zigbee.
I checked, and the hub is on 000.058.00010, not this new 59 version. Iām wondering if it failed the update and is now stuck? The last data for any of my devices is between 12/29 and 12/31.
I now see that Hub v2 has been moved to Jan 12th 2026⦠any ideas what it might be if not a firmware issue?
Hi @Industry
Our engineering team asked for some additional information in order to begin the investigation.
- Date and approximate time on when this happened
- Submit the hub logs as soon as you notice the issue.
- In the Advanced Users app, enter the āHubsā section
- Enter the corresponding Hub and click on āDump Hub logsā
- Confirm the process by clicking on āDump Hub logsā again in the pop-up.
- Youāll get a green box at the top confirming the Hub logs were requested.
- If you have more than one Hub, the name of the one involved in the issue.
- Finally, open support access so we can get the corresponding Deviceās IDs and see other properties of the hub:
- Confirm the email account registered in the forum is the same one you use for SmartThings. If not, please share it with me over DM
- Enable support access to your account:
- Go to the SmartThings Web (my.smartthings.com)
- Log in to your Samsung Account
- Select Menu (ā®) and choose Settings
- Toggle on Account Data Access
- Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select āUntil turned offā, once the team finishes, weāll let you know so you can disable it again.
See more information about this access here: https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/36170233944852-Enabling-Account-Data-Access-for-Support
Iāve enabled Account Data Access for one month. My only v2 hub is āHomeā. It looks like this happened around 12/28 - 12/30/2025. I dumped logs a week ago. Email is the same.
Interesting⦠Yesterday afternoon I had 1 device report an event, and then a cascade of offline events from other devices. Nothing more though.
Hi, thanks for the update.
I checked your account and I can see that both Zigbee and Z-Wave devices are involved. Since this is not limited to only Z-Wave devices, our teams are still actively investigating.
To make sure weāre tracking an active case, could you please confirm that you are still seeing this behavior as of today?
Also, could you share the approximate timestamps (date, time, and time zone) for:
When the first device reported an event.
When the cascade of offline events occurred.
Hi, previously I lost all my devices between 12/28 and 12/30 (Iām pacific time). Unfortunately the history for the devices seems to have aged out, so I donāt know of any other means to find exact times now.
More importantly: Something happened yesterday afternoon pacific time.
- Around 2:42/2:43pm pacific, I received a status update from my Z-WAVE devices. However, I only received the one update (or one update per data type) and I have not received any more. Some of these devices then went offline, however the ones that remained online at that point seem to be controllable.
- Around 3:42pm pacific (based on history) my most ZIGBEE devices came back and those continue to stream information. However, like Z-wave, there are several that did not come back.
I would think maybe it is type of device, or driver, but for example:
I have three of the SmartThings water sensors, which are Zigbee. They are all in the same room, and two are online and one is not. I replaced the battery in the one that is offline recently (actually during the outage), so Iām not sure why it isnāt seen.
What more can I provide to try and help bring the other devices back online? What caused the devices to come back? (It looks like my V2 hub is still 058.00010)
Here is an example of a Z-wave device that sent one event yesterday (for the first time in weeks) and then went offline.
Could you please try removing and re-adding a few of the affected devices (starting with some of the battery-powered āsleepyā Z-Wave ones) and let us know if you see any improvement after doing so?
This will help us understand whether re-pairing resolves the issue in your environment before suggesting it for all devices.
