Aeon Smart Meter Switch 6 - Beta [ SmartThings Device Custom Release Beta]

Secure messages can go over the mesh just like normal ones.

OK cool, that’s good to know ! Thanks

When I tried to do a repair in insecure mode, I was getting errors.
Those errors went away with secure mode it seems.

That said, they are within 10 feet now as it’s the one way I can get them to work.

In case anyone else was looking for it, I found the Smart Switch 6 firmware available for download from this location on Aeon Lab’s site. It was not on the download page with the other publicly available ones, it was in their support system/knowledgebase. As noted, you do need a Z-Stick USB Z-Wave controller to do the update. Here’s the link, hope this helps!

Hi all,

I’ve been running this device handler for a month or so and I really like it - thank you very much to everyone for all the hard work.

I have noticed something a little strange. I have 8 of these devices in service, and using this device handler I added them all to the network in secure mode - I’m mentioning that because I don’t know if that’s the difference.

What is happening is I am seeing what looks like unhandled zwave messages from the devices, and they appear to be messages that the device was turned on or turned off - at least, they appear shortly after we’ve either turned on the relevant unit. Has anyone else seen this?

What’s also strange is that I’m only seeing them in the app. I tried to capture some through the IDE live logging but they never seem to appear. Weird.

Here’s a screen shot of what I’m seeing - two events of command 9881. One has a payload of 00 20 03 00 (and the icon appears to be the device turning off or being off already) and the second has a payload of 00 20 03 FF (and the icon appears to be the device turning on or already being on).

[EDIT] Sorry, looks like there’s at least three different payloads here, not two. there’s 00 20 03 00, the second is 00 20 01 FF, and the third is 00 20 03 FF. Maybe one is the device saying ā€œturning onā€ and the second is ā€œturned onā€?

Has anyone else run across this?

@Dela-Rick

What firmware revision were your aeon gen 5 switches,

I checked one and it is already at 1.0.3. I bought it awhile ago and the firmware update page does not list a date for that firmware release.

@professordave

Same version here, 1.03.

Here’s another screen shot with some different payloads that don’t appear to be getting handled.
