Zigbee devices dropping and not reconnecting daily

Sounds like a smoke screen from support.
Crees’s are a WWST device.

My GE’s and Iris sensors have been working perfectly since 2014.
It’s their last update. ST is getting like Apple, pushing out updates w/o fully testing them.

If it wasn’t for this community I would’ve jumped ship last year. But, everyone here has done so much work to help each other. I also like that ST works with Zigbee, Zwave and WiFi. And the support from other community members helps integrate a multitude of devices. I can’t leave that just yet!

Ughhh…B.S…all of my Cree and GE bulbs work fine. It’s my open/close sensors, Linear WD500Z-1 (Dimmers), Aeon G2 micros that aren’t working.

I got a very similar answer. I have Osram lights (on the works with list) dropping off too which were conveniently ignored in the response.

Horse poop… I’ve also had Keen vents drop off, ST’s own motion sensors, and Iris motion sensors drop off. All of them worked perfectly before the firmware debacle. I know they’re working on it, but it’s just frustrating that this had to happen.

I know support has a tough job, and they have my sympathy, particularly in situations like this, but bad answers make me sad. :disappointed_relieved:

Don’t complain too much. There was another long thread for the past week on problems with zigbee and the update and that thread has gone away. I guess they don’t like the bad press.

Are you sure it wasn’t just combined with another thread? the following thread is still active:

I just bought another Iris Smart switch and a Osram bulb. I power cycled the hub and removed the batteries. Waited 15 minutes.

There is now four devices that can repeat the Zigbee signal: two smart switches, 1st gen Samsung motion sensor*, and the osram bulb.

I also re-paired the osram gardenspots and my two ge link lights thst are outside

Let’s see what happens in a few hours.

  • if the motion sensor is plugged in I know that enables the Zigbee repeater but does that also disable the motion sensor? I ask because it is not going off when I walk by it.

No it does not

Wouldn’t know about those 1st gen motion sensors. I don’t own any of those.
My last Zigbee heal was 4 days ago, I believe. Things have been working since then, but I know another Zigbee drop is coming anytime.

Mine has been better too. Still having drops and delayed response but less frequent. In the beginning the drops were fierce.

Odd because it isn’t working when plugged in

Well it isn’t supposed to do that and mine does not do that.

Wanted to chime in that my zigbee motion sensors have just stopped working (again). Frustrating because they work then randomly they don’t. I bought some securifi peanut plugs which supposedly repeat zigbee. I’ve swapped out batteries etc etc. Not sure what the heck is going on. I have a plugged in Z-Wave motion detector (aeotec multisensor) and that seems to function even when the Zigbee ones are failing.

Also on a different note some of my Z-wave door devices have been registering open but not close events, some of my lights (the non-Hue ones) have stopped responding but work when re-paired.

sigh…

How are people doing now? I haven’t been keeping track but I actually feel like its gotten better although don’t think there was any release. Maybe it was unrelated? Still dropping but probably only marginally worse than before.

My Osram Gardenspots are not workin again. I added a few zigbee repeaters to my mesh and they were fine.

I have reset them, power cycled ST, removed them and I now can’t get them back in ST…it isn’t even finding them.

Yes same here. I have been stable for about 3 days now.

Had more sensors dropping so followed some advice from support. Welllll. . . .big problems now. Support told me to power down all zig bee, power down hub for 10, then power up zigbee, then power on hub. None of my 4 Iris motion sensors will connect, even after resetting one and trying to re-add. Tried the process leaving all Osram out and only GE Link enabled and several sort of responded with long lags and some would not respond at all. So repeated cycle leaving all GE Link out and only Osram in. So far same behaviour, but since I know these Osram are SmartThings certified, I’ll leave them be over night and see if it just needs time for the mesh comes back alive. Otherwise back to support. During the whole series my z-wave has worked flawlessly.

No better. Here’s the message I sent support for ref.

Well, that didn’t work out well. Here’s what I did and what’s happening. I turned off all zigbee devices by either removing the bulb, turning a wired switch to off, or pulling the battery. I removed the batteries and turned the hub off for 15 minutes. I repowered the devices then the hub. I tried all the lights and at best all were slow to respond (some in the minutes) and some didn’t respond at all. I then repeated the procedure and only enabled motion and GE link and same result. I then repeated and only left motion and Osram, which is how it is now. Been about 10 hours and no change. Another thing to note is none of the motion sensors have come back alive. One of them I reset and tried to add back and that didn’t work either. All devices were working prior to these steps with occasional going offline (some, not all). What next? Thanks

So now they are working again. In case someone finds useful, here’s what I did. Power down Iris motion down for 15 minutes 1 or 2 at a time, not powering down the hub, and bring them near an Osram bulb when powering back on. Bulbs (Osram and GE) stayed on the whole time. Not sure if the 1 or 2 at a time or being near the Osram helped. I was just making a lack luster effort after working with these for so many days and when the first worked I thought about what I had done specifically and those stood out as different than previous efforts. The one I reset had to be removed from ST entirely then I could re-add. Problem is intermittent but been working for about 12 hours so fingers crossed.
