Yale Assure Lock SL connection issues

I had an older version that worked well for years that died and I replaced with this lock.

This has the green Z wave smart module.

I went through the pairing instructions on this forum (lock door, enter Master PIN, press 7+gear, press 1+gear, wait 60 seconds). I was able to get the lock to show up in Smartthings. From that point it shows 'offline". I have tried to change the driver (Rboy) and remove/replace batteries with no luck. The lock itself functions and i can unlock with the manually entered unlock code.

Any ideas? I had similar issues with the Assure 2 and ended up returning, hoping this older version would work.

I can manually reset and start over but think I may get to the same situation.

I am using the Z-Wave Lock PH driver with my Yale lock. It works fine except, I suspect the battery reporting is not accurate

How far is the lock from your hub? Do you have any mains powered Z-Wave devices between the lock and the door that serve as repeaters?

I have a Z wave dimmer about 10’ away, and several others within 20’.

If I can regain connectivity, is there a recommended driver?

You might want to try a Z-Wave repair. Also, if that lock supports S2 security, did you scan the QR code or manually enter the DSK?

As Paul suggested, I recommend Phil’s Z-Wave lock driver.

Thanks for the info. It does not have a barcode, I think because it is an older version.

I will factory reset and re-add it. I’ll also try that driver you recommended.

You’ll find the driver here. Install the non-beta version as it includes all the changes from the beta version.

Have you tried Excluding the lock before you tried pairing it.

These are the instructions I used for exclusion. Your model might be different.

Ensure the lock is powered on
Enter the 4-8 digit master PIN code
Press the gear key
Press the 7 key
Press the gear key
Press the 3 key

And these are the instructions for pairing my lock. Mine is an older pre Z-Wave plus, with, no S2 security, and no QR code.

Ensure the lock and Z-Wave controller are close together
Enter the master PIN code, followed by the # key
Press the 7 key, then the # key
Press the 1 key, then the # key
The lock will enter inclusion mode and send a transmission to the Z-Wave controller
The panel or controller will show that a new device has been added

i did a hard reset and tried again. i am using the Rboy and still having no luck in the app getting any response from the lock. the only other drive option i see is ‘z wave lock’. no luck with that either.

is there another place i can download this driver? the link doesn’t work for me.

and performed the z-wave exclusion on the lock?

i could not get the ST app to ‘see’ the exclusion when i tried it on the lock. i tried multiple times.

let’s start with the exclusion (so if I am repeating what you have already done - forgive me)

lock should be within 10 feet of the hub which sounds like it is but if you can move the hub closer that would be ideal.

  • Open SmartThings app
  • Select “Home Hub” or however you have named your hub such as “Home” in the list of devices
  • Select the 3 vertical dot icon located at the top right corner
  • Select Settings
  • Select “Z-Wave Utilities
  • Select “Z-Wave exclusion
  • After starting the “Z-Wave exclusion” go to your Yale lock and perform the needed task to complete the exclusion process
