I have been a huge fan and lurker here for a long time. Thanks to all of you for your time and expertise.
I know I should know about this, but my Xiaomi motion detectors have, one by one, stopped working. I’m certain this is because of the GROOVY IDE sunset, but I don’t know how to get them back. When I try to add them, it just adds the device as a ZIGBEE THING, and I cannot use it.
Again, my apologies for my ignorance. If someone can just give me a push to an article, or a web link explaining what I need to do to get them back online, I would be extremely grateful!
No need to apologize— the transition process has not been very well documented, and we’ve all been pretty confused at one point or another.
Just to get this out-of-the-way, there is a community FAQ that should answer most of your questions about the new edge Drivers, so I’ll go ahead and post the link to that.
In your specific case, it is adding as a “thing“ because none of the stock edge drivers include the fingerprint for it.
So the first thing to do is check and see if anyone in the community has created a custom edge driver that will work with your device. The FAQ I just linked to explains how to find custom edge drivers, and how to use them once you have found them.
Again, in your specific case, start by reading the top section of the FAQ so you know how to install a Custom edge driver. Then try the following one which @AurElHA just mentioned:
If that doesn’t work, you may have to post in the request thread with the fingerprint of your device, but hopefully it’s already included in the existing custom driver.
JDRoberts, you are very kind to spend time with your explanation and links. After reviewing what you’ve written,I’ve already had some success at installing these EDGE drivers. Amazing!
I can’t thank you and Jose enough for your response!
