Woodstove Thermometer

Anyone know of a thermometer that I could put ontop of my woodstove insert? This device would have to be able to handle some pretty high temps, the main reason why Iā€™d like to do this is because the stove has a built in fan, so when the temp is > than say 120 degrees on top or even in the blower intake then turn on the fan and start circulating the air. Sure I know they make stove inserts now with the automatic fan but thats a lot of money to just drop  for a possible simple solution. Thank you all for your input on this.
