Withings ws50 scale

@wayne5w It would be nice to use it as an air quality/CO2 sensor but it doesn’t look like there is a way to grab readings from it through the API.

Damn, that sounds like a great idea. You could have it kick on the HVAC fan if the CO2 reading gets too high. I have my Nest setup to cycle the fan every hour for a few minutes for just that reason. The Withins scale was showing that the CO2 level in the bedroom was getting too high. We now actually sleep a little better due to the lower CO2 levels from the circulation.

@robert, got it - that is useful.

@wayne5w I’d love to have my Sonos read off the weather report when I get on my scale in the morning. Mine’s in the bathroom and I’m usually awake enough to understand what’s going on by the time I get there.

Mark, you should be able to do this now with a little IFTTT love.
Create a virtual switch in SmartThings that automatically turns itself off after a few minuets. Share that switch from SmartThings to IFTTT. Use/create a IFTTT recipe to turn on the switch when you weigh in. Finally Have SmartThings announce the weather when the switch turns on. There maybe a little lag but all in all it should work. Enjoy!

I’m also interested in SmartThings and WS-50 integration. Looking forward to updates…

Can’t wait to get this as well. Are there any news about this?

+1 on the WS-50!

I’m trying to weight myself every morning, so I’d use the scale to trigger “Good morning”.

You should be able to do this now using IFTTT as a “man in the middle” and a virtual SmartThings switch that turns on your Good Morning phrase.

See #31 under Convenience:

i also have a withings scale, the wbs01 wifi scale. I don’t see how the actual model would matter since the scales all report to the same website the measurements. I get steps from my phone, and three of us get our bmi, bodyfat, and weight measured. I also would like to be able to hear the weather, etc. at the morning weigh-in. I’m trying to not have to use bridge-services unless necessary, and the withings ifttt channel is pretty limited. For example, it doesn’t care if multiple people use the same scale. I’ve had that issue with ifttt on android devices as well: it treats them all the same if you have the app on multiple devices.

I agree, I use a combination of pressure mats connected to contact sensors, regular contact, temp, moisture, acceleration/ vibration, motion, smoke, co2, and lux sensors to accomplish this.

You can use IFTTT as well with the scale to accomplish what you want.

i managed to get my withings scale to show weight in the smartthings app through a different 3rd party app partner. Authorize your withings account with sami (google sami samsung) and then install the sami smartapp and it will show up automatically in your things. Now admittedly mine is showing kilograms but i dont think that will matter for smartapp integration as i could convert it myself. I have no idea how to read the stats currently (i just integrated it)

i had an email support chat with SAMI. They said they show data in raw format, so it’s coming from withings in kilograms.

the sami interface took seconds.

@scottvlaminck @Ben

Do you guys have any update for Withings scale support? I would like to start my morning routine by stepping on the scale. This would include turning on music, turning the space heater in my office on, disarming the alarm so I can let the dog out, etc. Using the scale which is already part of my morning routine would be an excellent way to avoid having to actually use the app. Do you have any estimate as to when this will be available?

It’s been available

You could use the IFTTT channel now for an indirect integration to do all of the above. It just depends on how much lag you run into.

Hi,
Just tried linking Sami and Smartthings to get a Withings scale. I can see my Smartthings devices in Sami but not my Sami devices in Smartthings. Was there a final step you needed to take after adding the smartapp?

Same.

Post must be yaya

I can’t get sami to work consistently w/o messing with it more than id like… so i killed it. I’d recommend IFTTT.
