Unfortunately, Tuya uses a lot of proprietary code (different code for different models), so many Tuya devices do NOT work out of the box with other brands’ zigbee hubs. This was true for Groovy DTHs, and it’s true for Edge Drivers. And because of firmware changes sometimes even devices with the same model number use different proprietary code, requiring different Edge Drivers. 
so it may just be a matter of trial and error to see whether a specific device will work with SmartThings or not.

It’s not impossible to get most Tuya Zigbee devices to work with ST: it just requires extra custom code that is not included in the standard drivers. But the development can be tricky, so not all developers want to do it.
