I have 50+ hue bulbs and they are all connected in my smartthings app in addition to being in the hue app. We use smartthings as the primary means of controlling our lights with automation and voice control through Google Home. My internet went offline for a few minutes and when it came back on, all of my hue bulbs are now listed in the smartthings app as offline. I lost the ability to control them with smartthings even though they are showing as synced to the hue app. It is infuriating because then we lose the ability to voice control them and none of our automations work. Is there a simple fix to get smartthings to recognize all my lights again?? Is there a way to keep this from happening in the future?
Are using a SmartThings hub or just the cloud integration? If using the hub, are the automations local? If it’s the cloud integration, does the integration with Google Home work?
if you are using the cloud to cloud integration… go to Menu > Settings > Linked Services > tap on Philips Hue and click on Refresh at the bottom of that screen.
As mentioned in the other post above, there are several methods for connecting your hue hub and devices to ST. The Add Hue is slightly confusing. There is the direct connection between the Hue hub and the ST hub is you have one. There is the cloud to cloud which does not require the ST hub. There is the Matter connection and a custom Edge Driver.
If you are using the cloud to cloud integration (which would show in the linked services area) and have the ST hub, you may want to consider one of the direct connections. It may be painful though to switch depending on number of Routines you would need to adjust in the switch.
I am using a smartthings hub. I am not sure how to tell if automations are local. Any other device connected to smartthings still works with Google Home. The only devices that show as offline are all my hue lights. It seems that after my internet came back up none of my hue bulbs reconnected with smartthings.
the routine would display a grey house with white check mark icon on the tile to reflect it runs local.
example can be found here:
I never noticed that before! So all routines with my hue bulbs are local. All other routines not using my hue bulbs seems to be cloud based.
two suggestions:
- reboot you ST hub from the Advanced Web App
- reboot your Router
This has happend occasionally to me as well with Hue bulbs, rooms/zones and motion sensors. I find just going to the Hue app and turning the whole house On and then Off, waiting between the two for ST to refresh, sorts it out. Individual bulb use from the Hue app will achieve the same result on a bulb by bulb basis.
I have a couple of Hue kinetic buttons too which always require use to resync.
